Coffee n love is a Fine Robusta brand based in Chikmagalur, India. The company is known for focusing on sourcing, high-quality coffee beans from the South Indian coffee estate called St. Margaret Estate. They offer an range of coffee products that include green beans, roasted beans, ground coffee, cascara and coffee blossoms. Additionally, products like turmeric powder, lemon grass, black and white peppercorns and coconut oil are also sold.

Coffee n Love invites its customers to the product launch events, brewing events, professional cupping events and also keeps few events available for other producers to try more things like the estate from which they source. The brand emphasises on Tasting the Story that originates from their Fine Robusta beans.

St. Margaret Estate has been a family-owned business where four generations have worked on their robusta plants. The farm is located in the South Indian village of Magundi in Chikmagalur. The plantation, situated at an altitude of 750 meters above sea level, covers a total of 40 acres and is dedicated to growing robusta coffee varieties such as Old Peridenia, SL274, and CxR.

The soil in these mountain ranges has the perfect mixture for cultivating coffee as well as other crops like peppercorn, coconuts, bird’s eye chilies, turmeric, jackfruit, and avocado. The streams on the estate are surrounded by areca patches, creating a triving ecosystem within the 100% robusta plantation.

As the name suggests these coffee cherries are frozen and allowed to fermented for 200 hours. This long fermentation is done by freezing it to sub zero temperature. There is a massive freezer in the estate where all the processing takes place completely. Later, the cherries are removed and placed in the thawing area. This type of intense creation of coffee can create extremely unique coffees.

Just look at the icy coating on these crimson cherries. ❄️ The process of fermentation is natural and the variety that was used is Old Peridenia. The South Indian state in which it is produced, is located in Karnataka.

We attempted to try a similar batch, but fermenting only for hundred hours in the previous year and it was one of the most fun coffees, I have ever tried to create. Below you can see the words said by one of the customers who tried this fantastic coffee last year.

This Coffee got sold out very quickly last year, and it was one of the proudest moments for us.

Story - 1.png

As you know, the whole point of the brand is for you to taste the story. Every lot that we experiment with has a reason behind why we have worked with it. Here’s a little about frozen cherry 2.0. They’ve also jotted down the kind of flavour profiles that was tasted after the 200 hour ferment.

This Indian frozen cherry coffee that was produced at St. Margaret Estate took at least a minimum of three weeks to complete the processing. I’m super excited to share with you all, and showcase the hard work that’s gone behind. Take a look at the processing and the view of the farm.

The same customer decided to give a coffee review. He mentioned that the cup had a complex nuance and notes of red wine and pulpy orange with mild acidity and decent body. The red wine added depth to the complexity, making this much more than just a simple cup of coffee.

He also wrote specific notes to help us understand what he felt about the entire experience. He found that the pulpy orange notes were a lot more prominent and overall it was a well-balanced cup. He highly recommended it to the home brewers to give this coffee, a try and have a flavourful unique Robusta experience. This is the perfect choice for someone who is looking for a prominent fruity cup of coffee.

He ground the beans with a mechanical coffee grinder.

It was brewed in a pour over, the equipment was called Kalita. The filter paper is kept over the brewer and arranged with hot water to remove any papery taste. Then the hot water was poured in a circular motion, and the coffee was allowed to bloom and release any of the gases, and for a few seconds, until the same was done again. A flavourful cup and the uniqueness of the beans gets highlighted in this kind of brewing method.

Meet the customer who marketed this specific coffee and
made other home brewers also try this unique fruity coffee.
