We walked at a farm for this #wednesdaywalk by @tattoodjay
They brought out the draft horses and an old fashioned wagon to go to the corn field. This is a historic farm where they still do things the old way.
Anyone who visits can opt in to harvesting the dried out corn from a few fields nearby.
We were here to walk our toddler and have a playdate with another family's toddlers.
In between corralling kids I was able to snap a few random shots like this huge wasp nest. This is a bald faced hornet nest and they all die off during the winter but the queen hibernates then lays enough eggs to start a new nest in spring.
Fall is starting to really show around here, the red maples are of course the first to change. Eventually everything will be yellow soon.
I saw these cranes dancing in the horse pasture. I'm sure they are going to visit the corn fields too for any stray kernels. More on them here https://peakd.com/hive-106444/@sketch.and.jam/crane-dance
They have a few animals here too like this smaller pig.
My daughter was really impressed by the chickens eating a piece of pumpkin. They were too busy eating and she was finally able to pet one.
The baby calf is now half grown. Last time we came here it had just been born.
As usual the sheep are begging to be petted. They are quite matted. I suspect sheering won't happen until next spring since they'll need their wool for winter.
That's all for now, thanks for looking :-)
Thank @scroogergotchiheroes.com :-)
Superb captures in nature while taking the little one for a walk, educational and healthy!
!BEER
My daughter loved it there. Its a historic farm run by volunteers so now my wife wants to volunteer there lol.
Could be fun to volunteer knowing it brings joy to many.

.WOW thats so cool, I love the horses and wagon
and till today I did not know the queen hornets hybernate and the rest died off in winter
Thanks for joining the Wednesday Walk
Have a good day
The paper on those nests is pretty interesting too. Might look interesting if flattened out and used for painting.
that would be cool and perhaps quite unique
Cats get all the good press but pigs are pretty good at relaxing and getting comfy too. That pig looks totally content. I've probably mentioned it before but in Middlebury there is a garbage pick up option that is a team of horses pulling a wagon.
There is usually a dog along for the ride too 🙂
That's hilarious, I'm sure the horses like the exercise. I would have to travel about 2.5 hours down to Chesterfield to see the Amish doing stuff like that.
I imagine the children loved seeing all the farm animals. I adore cows and chickens and wish I could have my own chickens but our town doesn't allow them. You got some beautiful shots of them all. Happy fall!
Same here we would have to move to an unincorporated area to have chickens. Given some of the prices on houses in suburbia I might want to go off in the wild soon.
