'sketching' in nature...

Buongiorno Art-lovers

I was at the wild river picnicking with a dear friend on Sunday.

It was scorchio (super hot) and so mostly was in the shade... I brought a mini sketchbook and pen to draw whilst enjoying the full-immersion in the elements, but when I took it out, it felt clunky and forced to be interpreting what was around me into pen marks!

So I began playong with the rocks in a 3D 'drawing' way - much inspired by @exoexplorer, and by my art school days - using them intuitively as I would paint or mark-make, but simply letting hands and elements play with balance, colour, composition....

It was a gloriously refreshing exercise! They looked quite powerful, sitting there at the edge of the noisy torrent of crystal waters... wee stacks of colourful order amongst the beautifully imperfect natural chaos.

I was also inspired by the shadows which seem like a collaboration between sun, air, atmosphere, tree, rock.... art-full expression of sacred geometry and colour contrast. Like a prayer, blessing the eyes which observe.
