Did anyone miss me?
Hey guys, it's been a couple of months since I last showed up here. A lot has happened, but I don't want to overwhelm you with the nonsense and misfortunes of my life, so let's get straight to what we're here for—checking out some art and, of course, keeping up with the tradition of participating in the weekly Splinterlands art contest.
Today, I decided to draw Lux Vega again. I painted her a while back when her card was first released, but I haven't done anything related to her since then. I'm not sure how long it's been, but guessing, I'd say it’s been over a year because time flies. So this time, I took my time and decided to paint her again since she’s a character I like. Plus, it helped me shake off the procrastination and creative block I’ve been dealing with.

-Step 1:
As usual, I started by sketching the character. I already had a clear idea of the pose and that the cards would be flying around her.
-Step 2:
For the base colors, I used the pen tool to select the shapes of the character's elements and then proceeded to fill them in and separate them into different layers. Once that was done, I could move on to shading and adding volume to her skin.
-Step 3:
Next, I focused on her clothing. She wears a very tight corset with a semi-shiny, metallic appearance, and I wanted to emulate that look. However, I didn't want to make it overly realistic; I aimed to maintain the same style I had achieved with her skin.
-Step 4:
Since Lux Vega is a summoner and uses cards, what better way to showcase that than by adding Splinterlands characters to the cards flying around her? So, I went back and found the art I had previously created for Splinterlands' weekly contest, and that's why you can see Adelade Brightwing, Jared Scar, Runic Skyclaw, and even Gremlin Blaster, all ready to be summoned for battle.
-Step 5:
I will leave you a GIF with the whole process on it, so you can better appreciate the illustration process.
See you in a future post!
