Hello Everyone.
I hope you're all doing well .
I'm back with my new fan art for the Splinterlands Art Contest Week 316. But before diving into my latest creation, I want to give a big shout-out and congratulations to all the winners of the Week 315 Contest. The level of creativity and talent in the community is truly inspiring, and every participant's art was amazing.
As you might guess from the title, this time, I chose to bring Cerberus to life. Cerberus is a guardian three-headed hunter in Greek mythology. Cerberus has a strong identity, so I decided not to stray too far from the original Splinterlands card art, keeping it recognizable and true to its origins.
For this artwork, I used Adobe Illustrator to maintain a clean and vectorized look. The process began with rough sketches outlining the basic structure and proportions of Cerberus. I wanted to make sure each head had a distinct, angry expression and maintained a cohesive and unified look across all three. Once I'm satisfied with the sketch, I move on to inking using Illustrator's pen tool to create clean, bold lines that will form the basis of the final piece.
Next came the coloring process, where I aimed to replicate the intense and bold color palette of the original card. I used deep red and brown shades for the body to emphasize its muscular, powerful form, while making sure Cerberus' bright red eyes stood out as a focal point.
I paid close attention to light and shadow to give the character a strong and the dark background were deliberate choices to enhance the atmosphere and match the character' look.
To give you a better idea of my process, I've included some work-in-progress images. You will see the evolution of the piece, from the initial sketch to the finished product.
I hope you enjoy my new artwork . Your feedback means a lot to me, so feel free to drop your thoughts in the comments. I'd love to hear your feedback on how I can improve or ideas for future artwork. Thanks .
