Last Sunday I went to the Post Office, I like to go there to drop mail off in their big drop box at the rear of its parking lot. This is at the West Lane Post Office on Sunday November 24th, 2024.
Well, I drive there and of course the parking lot is pretty empty, but then I notice that the mail drop box that I was going to put my bills into is now missing. What? I have gone to this box for over three decades and now it is missing?
So there is a another mail drop box at the front of the Post Office, you can't drive up to it like the other one, you have to walk up to it. So I went there and I was going to drop of my bills, but I notice that mail is all the way up to the lips of the mouth of the Postal Mail Drop Box. I mean I could actually reach in the mouth of that box and pull out mail.
That means that, that box is now insecure, and people can take some mail out of it, as that mail is within reach of the mouth of that mail drop box.
So did I put my bills in that mail drop box? No, not me, someone can just reach in and get my bills. So what did I do? I took that mail and went back to my 1994 Mazda B3000 pickup truck and drove to another mail drop box. I knew there was one close to the place where people go to sell their blood.
So I dropped my mail in that box.
I felt so frustrated that I wrote to the USPS by email about that missing box. I wrote to them on Tuesday November 26, 2024. Well to my surprise a guy named Damon called me the next day on November 27, 2024. I didn't recognize the number to I ignored it, but then he called me again, so I answered the call, I thought it was someone wanting to buy my house.
I always get calls of people wanting to buy my house. What? Sell my house? Then I still have to go and find another place for me and my brother to live, no I will continue to keep living in my house. As a matter of fact, I would rather I just die in my house, God willing that is.
But the guy who called me was not trying to buy my house, no, he wanted to talk about my email to the United States Postal Service. So I was happy to talk to him.
I told him that I have gone to that West Lane Post Office for decades and then they take away my favorite mail drop box?
Then he told me, you know we can't keep an eye on that mail drop box in the rear of our parking lot, you see it has been broken into many times, so we took it out.
I told him I did go to the mail drop box in front of the Post Office, but it was so full that I could pull mail out of the mouth of that box, it was so full.
Damon, the guy from the Post Office, that called me back, told me that they didn't anticipate that box getting full so fast. So he told me that they increased how many times they pick up that box, so hopefully that box won't get full like it has been getting.
I asked him if they would pick up that box on Sundays, as it was on Sunday that the box was full to the max. He told me that he actually works on Sunday and yes, he does work at the West Lane Post Office, I thought that maybe he was at a Postal Service call center, but they gave me an actual person that works at the West Lane Post Office, I appreciated that.
Well anyway, Damon told me that since he does work on Sundays too, that he would be able to do at least one pick up of that box on Sundays. I told him that was good as now I am pretty sure that mail drop box will be secure, I mean, I don't think the box will be so full that one can steal mail from the mouth of the box.
I thanked Damon for calling me back, I did say I will miss that way I used to just drive up and drop off my mail without even getting out of the vehicle, but I guess we got to do the best we can.
Let's end with a scripture, as it is written, with Jesus speaking, I am the vine, ye the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. John 15:5.
