Hello friends I hope travelers are enjoying good health and have an excellent day with their loved ones. On my last trip to the state of Bolívar I had the opportunity to visit different places, some I had been to before and others for the first time. We traveled by stroller to make the trip a little shorter and more comfortable. Even so, my son was eager to get to the town of Caicara del Orinoco as soon as possible. By bus the trip lasts approximately six hours. During the trip we made several stops to stretch our legs, each of these stops. I made the most of them to eat and observe the landscape.
One of the stops was at the Maripa service station, capital of the Sucre municipality, to refuel and walk, this is an important point of reference because near the service station is the aboriginal monument, which pays tribute to the Yekuana indigenous group, located in the upper Caura, an interesting destination in the municipality that stands out for its beautiful landscapes, waterfalls like the Pará and spectacular views of the river, the access route is aquatic, in small boats, a nice trip that is worth it for you to enjoy the environment and natural beauties, on several occasions I have passed through this route and now I had the great opportunity to see the monument up close and take photos; Without wasting time I quickly walked towards the monument with phone in hand, activated the camera and action! to take photos as it has been said, several years ago I took a photo from the car and to my surprise it turned out well, it was the only one I had of the monument and thanks to this trip I have many more in the gallery.
Hola amigos viajeros espero se encuentren disfrutando de buena salud y tengan un excelente día en unión de sus seres queridos, en mi último viaje al estado Bolívar tuve la oportunidad de visitar diferentes lugares, algunos a los que que había ido antes y otros por primera vez, viajamos en carrito para hacer el viaje un poco más corto y cómodo, incluso así mi hijo estaba ansioso por llegar lo más pronto posible a la población de Caicara del Orinoco, en bus el viaje dura aproximadamente seis horas, durante el trayecto hicimos varias paradas para estirar las piernas, cada una de estas paradas las aproveché al máximo para comer y observar el paisaje.
Una de las paradas fue en la estación de servicio de Maripa, capital del municipio Sucre, para recargar combustible y caminar, este es un importante punto de referencia pues cerca de la estación de servicio se encuentra el monumento aborigen, que rinde homenaje al grupo indígena Yekuana, ubicados en el alto Caura, un interesante destino del municipio que destaca por sus hermosos paisajes, saltos como el Pará y espectaculares vistas del río, la vía de acceso es acuática, en barquitas, un lindo viaje que vale la pena para que disfrutes del entorno y bellezas naturales, en varias ocasiones he pasado por esta vía y ahora tuve la gran oportunidad de ver el monumento de cerca y tomar fotos; sin perder tiempo caminé rápidamente hacia el monumento con teléfono en mano, activé la cámara y ¡acción! a tomar fotos se ha dicho, hace varios años tomé una foto desde el auto y para mi sorpresa quedó bien, era la única que tenía del monumento y gracias a este viaje tengo muchas más en la galería.
The monument is located on trunk 19 with the Bolívar Caicara national highway, it is made of concrete and at the back it has a waterfall, which represents the place where this aboriginal group lives. The indigenous woman wears the characteristic attire of this ethnic group and in her hands a wooden basket with delicious fruits and vegetables typical of the region that symbolize the abundance of the land and the importance of food in the life of human beings. On both sides of the legs there are two vessels that are important symbols of indigenous craftsmanship decorated with motifs. aborigines, on top of one of them a beautiful macaw, a very common bird in the area, in the other vessel you can see a beautiful orchid flower, the vessel has among its decorations figures alluding to the aboriginal culture that apparently are representative animals of the Yekuana group.
The monument is fenced with iron bars and has an excellent location with many trees around, to get around there are concrete paths, decorated with stones, grass and palm trees, behind the vessels is the pond where water falls from the fountain to continue the cycle, at the top of the wall you can see the post with several light bulbs, which illuminate this spectacular monument.
El monumento se ubica en la troncal 19 con carretera nacional Bolívar Caicara, está hecho de concreto y en la parte posterior tiene una cascada, que representa el lugar donde habita este grupo aborigen, la indígena lleva el atuendo característico de esta etnia y en sus manos una cesta de madera con deliciosas frutas y verduras propias de la región que simbolizan la abundancia de la tierra y la importancia de la alimentación en la vida del ser humano, a ambos lados de las piernas se encuentran dos vasijas símbolos importantes de la artesanía indígena decoradas con motivos aborígenes, encima de una de ellas una linda guacamaya, un ave muy común en la zona en la otra vasija se observa una hermosa flor de orquídea, la vasija tiene entre sus decoraciones figuras alusivas a la cultura aborigen que al parecer son de animales representativos del grupo Yekuana.
El monumento está cercado con rejas de hierro y cuenta con una excelente ubicación con muchos árboles alrededor,para desplazarte hay caminerías de concreto, adornadas con piedras, gramas y palmeras, detrás de las vasijas se ubica el estanque donde cae agua de la fuente para continuar el ciclo, en la parte alta del muro se ve el poste con varios bombillos, que iluminan este espectacular monumento.
Our visit to the monument was in the afternoon and I was alone, on our way back we passed in the morning and we could see several travelers and tourists taking photos in the place, we also made a stop there and I took the opportunity to talk with one of the residents who explained to me the meaning of the monument and each of the elements it has, the essence of the monument is to pay tribute to the Yekuana people highlighting their cultural values, and natural elements that are part of their territory; The waterfalls, rivers and waterfalls, located along the long route of the Caura River, the monument indicates the entrance to the town of Maripa when you go in the Bolívar Caicara direction and the exit when you go in the opposite direction.
In the morning, many people were in the place, taking photos and talking with the residents, very close there is also a soda fountain where you can cool off from the intense heat, this area of the state and in general the state of Bolívar stands out for its warm climate and in general a large part of the state, in the municipality there are several craft stalls where you can buy a souvenir of your visit to this beautiful town, these are mostly made of clay and palm or moriche fibers, I would have liked to bring one crafts as a souvenir and it was not possible, because we passed by very early in the morning and they were still closed, but it was still very nice to get to know this monument up close and learn the meaning of the elements that make it up and highlight the Yekuana culture.
Nuestro paso por el monumento fue en horas de la tarde y estaba solo, ya de regreso pasamos en horas de la mañana y pudimos ver a varios viajeros y turistas haciéndose fotos en el lugar, también hicimos una parada allí y aproveché la oportunidad para conversar con uno de los residentes quién me explicó el significado del monumento y cada uno de los elementos que tiene, la esencia del monumento es rendir un homenaje al pueblo Yekuana resaltando sus valores culturales, y elementos naturales que forman parte de su teritorio; las cascadas, ríos y saltos, ubicados en el largo recorrido del río Caura, el monumento indica la entrada a la población de Maripa cuando vas en sentido Bolívar Caicara y la salida cuando vas en sentido contrario.
En horas de la mañana, muchas personas estaban en el lugar, haciéndose fotos y conversando con los residentes, muy cerca de allí se ubica también una fuente de soda dónde te puedes refrescar del intenso calor, esta zona del estado y en general el estado Bolívar se destaca por su cálido clima y en general gran parte del estado, en el municipio se ubican varios puestos de artesanía donde puedes adquirir un recuerdo de tu visita a este hermoso pueblo, estas están hechas en su mayoría de barro y fibras de palma o moriche, me hubiese gustado traer una artesanía como recuerdo y no fue posible, debido a que pasamos muy temprano en la mañana y todavía estaban cerradas, pero igual fue muy lindo conocer de cerca este monumento y aprender el significado de los elementos que lo integran y resaltan la cultura Yekuana.
