Happy Friday, amazing people!
I'm back for another tale from a little side trip my husband and I took a few years ago, before the chaos of the pandemic. Our road trip to Red Rock Canyon was in full swing, the wind tousling our hair as we cruised down the road, the Las Vegas Strip fading in the rearview mirror. As we journeyed, the allure of the unknown beckoned us, and on a whim, we decided to make a pit stop at Bonnie Springs. We didn't expect it, though, but fate had a sneaky surprise waiting for us and it turns out that the ranch was temporarily closed for renovations at that time. But no big deal. Despite the temporary setback, the place exuded an irresistible charm that captured our hearts instantly.
By the way, Bonnie Springs Ranch sits about 15 miles or roughly 24 kilometers, southwest of Las Vegas (where we came from), a stone's throw away from the stunning Red Rock Canyon. It's not that far for a quick getaway. Spanning a whopping 115 acres, this place is like stepping back in time to the 1880's, when Nevada's mining towns were bustling with life.
So anyway, the old-town vibe enveloped us (especially me, as I am a huge fan of everything country) like a warm hug, and I found myself drawn to the old-town ranch, shrouded in whispers of its haunted reputation. Now, I must confess, I also have a peculiar fascination with all things mysterious and haunted. Call it a quirk of mine. The thought of exploring the eerie corners of the ranch sent a thrill down my spine. Although our visit was brief, the tranquility and solitude of the surroundings left a lasting impression. We strolled leisurely, soaking in the rustic beauty and snapping photos to freeze the fleeting moments in time. The hushed whispers of the past seemed to echo in the air, adding a touch of mystique to our impromptu escapade. Before we knew it, it was time to say goodbye to this gorgeous ranch, but the memories of our quick escapade lingered in our hearts. As we drove off, I found myself already craving another visit, eager to explore more of the ranch's mysterious charm and unravel its hidden secrets.
At the moment, the ranch is back on track, continuing to offer its various attractions and activities to visitors without a subsequent closure or reopening event. And if you're planning a visit, here's the scoop on what to expect inside this Western wonderland. The old town welcomes guests from Wednesday to Sunday, between 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m., offering a range of activities to suit every adventurer's fancy.
First up, there's the delightful Petting Zoo, a heartwarming spot where you can mingle with friendly animals like pigs, llamas, turtles, and peacocks. It's the perfect place to make some furry and feathered friends! For those with a taste for adventure, the Riding Stable beckons with guided horseback tours through the breathtaking western landscape. Keep your eyes peeled for wild mustangs as you trot along the trails from 9 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. daily. If you're a fan of the supernatural, don't miss out on the ghost tours at Bonnie Springs. Dive into the ranch's haunted history and explore spooky sites like the opera house, saloon, schoolhouse, and wax museum. Who knows what eerie encounters await? Step back in time at the Old Nevada Western Town, where you can immerse yourself in the charm of an old west town complete with a saloon, bank, and jailhouse. Catch reenactment shows, test your aim at the shooting galleries, or wander through the intriguing wax museum. For a whimsical ride, hop aboard the Miniature Train on weekends and enjoy a scenic tour around the old town. It's a fun-filled activity for visitors of all ages, offering a unique perspective of the ranch's historic setting. Feeling hungry after all the excitement? Head to the on-site restaurant for a delicious meal featuring a diverse menu of steak, ribs, chicken, burgers, and breakfast favorites like pancakes and eggs. The restaurant ensures you won't go hungry even after the attractions close. And if you're not ready to bid adieu just yet, Bonnie Springs Ranch offers cozy lodging options at a small motel. Indulge in themed rooms, unwind by the fireplaces, or pamper yourself in jacuzzi tubs for a comfortable and relaxing stay. Sorry, I don't have the latest photos of those adventures above. Maybe on my next visit. God willing.
So yeah, that concludes my throwback adventure today. Want to visit the place? Go plan your trip ahead! Whether you're seeking animal encounters, ghostly thrills, or a taste of the Old West, Bonnie Springs Ranch has something for everyone. So pack your sense of adventure and get ready to make lasting memories at this enchanting Western retreat! Enjoy, my friends, and until our next travel tale.
