Dray Sap Waterfall - A Must-Visit In The Central Highlands Of Vietnam

in Worldmappin3 years ago

Hi Hivers, how are you today?
I am currently still in my hometown, Central Highlands of Vietnam, to enjoy Tet holiday with my family. As you may know, I live in Da Nang city, which is about 600km from my hometown. Only on special occasions like Tet holiday do I have the opportunity to visit my hometown. So on this occasion, I would also like to introduce to you some must-visit destinations in my hometown. And the first destination I would like to introduce to you is Dray Sap waterfall.

Dray Sap waterfall is a waterfall on the majestic Serepok river flowing through the land of Dak Sor commune, Krong No district, Dak Nong province. Dray Sap is the name in Ede language, this is an ethnic minority in the Central Highlands. Dray means waterfall, while Sap means smoke. Dray Sap means smoke waterfall because the waterfall falls from above into the valley forming a large mass of steam rising up like smoke. Dray Sap waterfall is also known as Husband waterfall. And not far away there is another majestic waterfall called Dray Nur (or Wife waterfall) that I will introduce to you in the next post.

In my hometown, almost every beautiful scene in nature is associated with a legend, and Dray Sap waterfall is no exception. According to legend, once upon a time, there was an Ede man and a woman who lived in two different villages separated by the Serepok River. They fell in love, but their love was not only separated by the river, but also forbidden by the two families. So one night, they decided to jump into this river so they could be together forever. At that time, moved by the love of the couple, the Serepok river split in two at the place where they jumped. One tributary forms today's Dray Sap waterfall (also known as Husband waterfall) and the other tributary forms the Dray Nur waterfall (also known as Wife waterfall).

Dray Sap Waterfall is about 40 km south of Buon Ma Thuot city center. You can come here by motorbike or car. The road to here is also quite beautiful. You know, my hometown is located on the Highlands of Vietnam, the population is quite sparse, and the terrain is mainly mountains and forests, so when driving on the roads here, we can admire the beauty of nature on both sides of the road. However, my one piece of advice is that you should drive carefully here because the roads here are mostly pass roads and the roads are quite empty, so people tend to drive quite fast and carelessly. From Buon Ma Thuot city center, it took me more than an hour by motorbike to Dray Sap waterfall eco-tourism area, I bought a ticket (about 2.5$ a ticket) and parked there before walking about 10 minutes down the waterfall. The walking path down to the waterfall is also very nice under the trees. I came across a lot of huge old trees on both sides of the road to Dray Sap waterfall. They are probably hundreds to thousands of years old. They stood there like the watchmen of this waterfall.

Currently this area has been developed into an eco-tourism area. Therefore, the way to the waterfall also becomes easier. We can go to the top of the waterfall to admire the beauty of Serepok river and waterfall from above. In addition, people have built some waterfall observation points with some beautiful views. You can also find some services like elephant riding, jungle ride or kayaking here. And if you have time, you can experience staying in a homestay here, I think it will be a very wonderful experience to live among the mountains, explore the surrounding area and enjoy the sunrise at this majestic waterfall . Unfortunately, I didn't have much time, so I couldn't stay there for long. But a few hours there also allowed me to appreciate the amazing beauty of this waterfall and the surrounding area.

This is a destination that most people visiting the Central Highlands of Vietnam visit despite its remote location. Do not miss it when you have the opportunity to come here to admire the majestic beauty of nature. I hope my photos can help you see some of its beauty. Thank you for taking the time to read my post. Have a nice day!

What a truly spectacular waterfall and all together a beautiful part of the world where you live @dodovietnam. I love legends behind places but this one is a tragic one!

Thank you very much for stopping by friend.
I notice that most of the legends behind the beautiful scenes in my hometown are sad ones.

That does seem to be part of the allure of a legend. They are generally tragic in essence. Still. The waterfalls are magnificent!

What a privilege to have those kinds of natural attractions in your hometown. How far is that waterfall from your family's home?

Thank you very much for stopping by, friend.
The waterfall is about 50km from my home but it's near my relatives.

It looks like a place from a movie! very beautiful and dreamed that place. Cheers!!

Thank you very much for your lovely word!

I very much enjoy traveling around Vietnam with you Do Do. Thank you. This is a beautiful place and so glad you can be at home for the holidays!

Thank you very much Sara. I am very happy to have a companion like you. And Tet holiday is like Christmas in your country I think, it's even like a family reunion event.

It sounds like it. I wonder when I can make it happen that I come over there and visit you and @trangbaby. I am waiting to see where Hive Fest will be this year. It is usually in November, I have been saving up Hive to go to it in person. Hopefully it will happen in person this year.

❤️I'll start saving Hive now 😁 Hopefully, the Hive fest will occur in Vietnam and be held in the country. Vietnam fully reopens for international tourism at the end of March. :)

It certainly does look majestic my friend. A lovely post indeed.

Thank you very much for stopping by friend!

Only a pleasure! 👍😊

So beautiful 🥰.
I must visit this place

Thank you very much friend!

Nice photographs. Water makes everything beautiful. This is the nature's best gift to mankind. Looking forward to reading your posts.

Thatnk you very much friend. Yeah I totally agree with you that this is the this is the nature's gift to human.

I loved the pictures, I feel that they somehow transmit a magical feeling that emanates from that place, which at the same time looks like a prehistoric environment. Thanks for letting me know a piece of Vietnam, Dray Sap Waterfall is a place that I will add to that list of places I would love to visit someday.

By the way, I really enjoyed the pictures of the trees, I love to take pictures from that perspective and try to capture the immensity they have.

Thank you very much for your lovely words friend.
I'm happy that you love the post.
I love nature, then trees are always my favorite photography subject.

Anh đi hang động núi lửa ở gần thác chưa a? 😃 em xem hình thấy đẹp lắm mà chưa có dịp đi

Chưa em ạ, anh đến nơi khá trễ mà còn thấy đứa nào viết dòng chữ 'động xấu lắm' nên mất hết động lực luôn.

That looks like an amazing place! I love the waterfall shots with the longer shutter speeds and the tall trees covered with parasitic plants.

Thank you very much friend.
I love the shots with longer shutter speeds too.
