Welcome to Poprad! We are in one of the important places for winter tourism in Slovakia. But we are not accustomed to winter truzm. We have hardly seen snow in our lifetime. Because we came from Izmir, one of the warmest places in Turkey. And in Poprad we decided; Winter trek is not suitable for us. So why are we here? We set off from Rimavska Sobota and came to Poprad for Arrival Training, which is part of Erasmus Plus. The road took about 3.5 hours.
Our Arrival Training lasted 5 days. We were 10 people in total; 2 Georgians, 2 Turks, 2 Ukrainians, 1 Lithuanian, 1 German, 1 Portuguese and 1 Slovakian. The trainers offered us a friendly atmosphere. On the first day, the program started after 5 pm. First, the trainers explained the program of the 5 days. Then we played various games to get to know each other better. And we went to the restaurant for dinner. After the meal We met in the hall to play card games with some of the participants. The game went on until late. It was fun.
On the second day, I was very disappointed when I went down to the restaurant for breakfast. Dinner did not satisfy me, but I slept with the dream of open buffet breakfast. But this hotel's breakfast buffet did not have French Fries. All of their potatoes were on the dinner menu, boiled.
In the afternoon of the second day, we had the opportunity to visit Poprad thanks to the assignments given by our trainers. They wanted us to talk to the people and find out what they knew about our own country. We met someone who lived in Germany for 6 years. He said that the only thing he remembers from Germany was Kebab. There was no problem except that the kebab was Turkish food.
At the dawn of the fifth day I awoke and looked east. Today was the day of departure. The program ended with lunch.
Our rights and responsibilities as a volunteer in Arrival Training; We talked about the responsibilities of the sending and host institution, the coverage of health insurance, the history, culture and habits of Slovakia. At the same time, we provided a beautiful environment of games, parties, movies and new friendships.
The most difficult part of the arrival training was the food. I think it has a great importance in the food culture of potatoes and rice in Slovakia. Sure you like potatoes and rice, but not every day.
