Geuredong, I didn't really recognize that name before, my father used to answer when I asked him about the name of a mountain, he spontaneously answered "it's called Bukit Barisan", either because of the emblem of the institution, or because it's easy for me to remember so he answered my question like that.
Grandpa was the first person I remember to mention the name "Geuredong" that my ears heard, he likes to tell stories about the heroic struggle to defend Aceh from the wishes of the former Dutch colony. At that time, my grandfather told how the Acehnese mujahideen were guerrillas from the village to the mountains such as Halimon, Rimba Raya, and Geuredong.
Even though I've heard the name, at that time I didn't know for sure where Geuredong was, when I was still in junior high school_every time I went to school_morning was always a beautiful time to see a strong mountain extending from my city, my friends called it "Mount Dragon", it was illustrated because of its elongated shape, it is assumed that a dragon is sleeping behind the big mountain.
Armed conflict occurred in the province of Aceh, the earthquake and tsunami hit, a year later peace was established in Helsinky, Aceh began a new chapter, rehabilitation and reconstruction after the peace and tsunami earthquake, several districts / cities in Aceh province formed pemekaran, as well as sub-districts that formerly wider, now decentralized into smaller sub-districts, one of which has the name "Geuredong Pasee", that's when I first learned that Bukit Barisan, Gunung Naga, is the mysterious Geuredong that my grandfather told me about when the mujahideen heroically fought against the Dutch colonialists.
Now that Geuredong is so close to me, I can at least visit it closer once a week, as a delivery driver in the hinterlands requires me to pass through the Geuredong valley every week.
This is the place where I most often see Geuredong a little closer, the name is Bukit Darussalam, at 06.30 WIB I usually am at this location when crossing the Geuredong valley, my mind always trembles when I see the splendor of Geuredong, maybe because I have heard his name since childhood, but when i grew up i just got so close to him.
The following are some "Geuredong" photography that I took on one of my trips last Tuesday, hopefully Geuredong will remain strong, its natural preservation will never be undermined.
