Mushroom Monday The Wise Toad

The wise toad has pointed me to some more mushrooms.

The toad is the oracle of where the mushrooms grow. Look over there human.

The toad has found me some kind of poisonous looking mushroom with gnats all over it.

Toad has also pointed me to another strange mushroom. Probably an amanita of some sort.

These mushrooms were covered in crumbly white. I'm not sure if this is another fungus growing on it or if this is just how these mushrooms grow.

I managed to find some false turkeytail with some unusual colors.

I missed this ramaria in its prime. Now its a bit dried out from the summer.

I found a really old version of ramaria as well. It turned black.

Here is a couple more leaves of chicken of the woods. This subspecies is a bit crumbly compared to others.

This is what the chicken looked like last week.

Here is what the same patch looks like a week later. It is already starting to get old and lose its orange color.

I wish the toad had told me where the good chicken of the woods was growing instead of the poisonous toadstools.

Happy #mushroommonday :-)

Amazing closeup shots of toad and mushrooms ❣️❣️

Thanks :-) The toad slid back down his hole right after I took the photo.

You are lucky that you had clicked atleast one picture of him😂😅

We have spotted frogs over here that I can not get photos of they jump too quick. The toads are lazy compared to those guys.

Yeah it was really harder to click the pictures of jumped ones

so you experienced with it (him) another 'cooperation case', sweet!

You show an amazing picture.
The frog looks very big.

It was about the size of the palm of your hand. The problem with catching these toads is they always pee on you as a defense mechanism.

That's huge.
Peeing was probably one of his ways to protect himself.

oops, sadly I hit wrong comment to answer. but as it contained a bottle of !BEER I will not erase it.

palm?... a whole palm, not even a half of it ?! thats a pure monster then! happily we stumbled upon a little toaddies (and froggies) before, and experienced no pee-ing cases, I cant say that I suffer from this lack of experience. a good thing to be warned, thank you my friend. I will share your knowledge with my babygirl, she is very fond of catching frogs and toads. she has no fear of them at all! and loves to look at and touch them, hehe. (and I dispose of her trophies remains in my mushroom photos ... if I'm lucky :)

Yeah beware the toad pee. Basically anything that slithers or hops on the ground has that defense mechanism.

thank you! defence mechanisms may be not obvious, but they are there, silently waiting. hope humans bodies also have developed some protective mechanisms, as well ;=)

Hey @sketch.and.jam, here is a little bit of BEER from @qwerrie for you. Enjoy it!

Yes.
It was enormous.
I've never seen anything this big.

Thank you very much..

hi! congrats on another successfull post. I am editing out my own, too. sadly -- I didnt meet a single one toad this summer! and got away with only little froggies... most of them werent too cooperative (were not too wise to pose for my pics, as your edition of a wise old toad). cheers! and an extra !BEER for you.

This plump one slid down into the hole in the concrete behind him. Next time I go back I'll be peeking down there for him.

Nice nice, such a beautiful collection.

Florian, you are welcome to look at mine! I've got some cool stuff during this weekend. By the way - arent you into the mushroom photography... at least by 10 percent?.. would love to see what you've got around - a !BEER for you.

The toad didn’t want to give his secrets. :)

I wish he had pointed me to a nice big puffball, instead he slid back down to the bottom of the hole he was sticking out of.

Toads can be misleading creatures. Maybe a frog would be a better Oracle, since there is the "prince" potential? Not that I'd kiss a frog or anything.

I love all your photos. I've always been fascinated with fungi. The white one with the crumbly texture was particularly interesting. I've never seen that type before. The false turkey tail is cool. There's a heart shape in one.

I almost think the white crumbly one might be covered in another type of fungi.

I read that and I'm really curious to know if that's the case.

It looks alot like bolete killer fungi aka Hypomyces chrysospermus though this is not a bolete fungi so who knows...

Wow, so wild. I find there's so much complexity with fungi. I've only spent a tiny bit of time on them. They've always felt very "otherworldly" to me, for no particular reason. I also find them incredibly beautiful.
