AskLeo - How Long is Too Long?

in LeoFinance4 years ago

I'm in a bit of dilemma here... Might sound stupid but will put it out anyway.

For a few weeks I've noticed that my posts don't get that much interaction and attention that they used to as when I joined this community(Leofinance) and felt a bit frustrated to be honest.

Engagement on one's content is a metric of how good that content creator is and when you see your interaction levels dropping on the content you're putting out, you start to ponder on the situation.

I care a lot about my activity around here and try my best to be a good blogger. Not always do I succeed doing that, but at least I try.

I was thinking today that the length of my posts might be the problem. There might be the situation that I'm writing too lengthy posts and my followers don't feel like digesting them anymore.

Hence I though I should do an #askleo post and ask you guys how long is too long?

Or better put, does the length of a post matter when you're consuming content on Leofinance? Do you avoid lengthy posts?... Please share your feedback, as I'm curious to find out if this metric matters at all.

I see it quite difficult to trim mine to be honest, and probably length is not the only factor my posts started to lose engagement, but I still have to satisfy my curiosity on this topic. An external view is always welcomed.

Thanks for attention,
Adrian

Sort:

Prices fell, people left. Normally it's that simple lol

For me 300 words - 500 words with pictures is the sweet spot. Breaking it down into areas as well helps with scanning. Honestly not many people sit there and read a full article including when incentives are involved.

To sit there and read an article, write up a good quality comment is about a 15 minute process. Do that over an hour you're looking at 4 maybe 6 if you're lucky like really putting in the time to read and comment worth wild. After that you get about $1 or less it's not really "worth" it from a money stand point but it is worth it for building engagement and community but most people just look at $ value.

Also seems like number of votes has been dropping off as well.

Interesting... It was supposed that during bull markets it goes the other way.

Engagement comes from visibility.

You've got a ton of votes from our big-dog alpha, putting you straight into the popular section on the leofinance.io homepage.

This obviously coincides with the posts that you're getting more views, comments and other votes on.

While you can't rely on an alpha vote to put you into the popular section every day, you can keep building relationships with other stakeholders.

This may encourage them to follow you and keep your content front and centre on their own feeds.

It's all a building process and that is one strategy that could help.

Keep going :)

Spot on.

Well, I personally get attracted by a post tittle first, so the title of a post is what advertises it the most, and then the header image, as irrelevant as it sometimes seems, it actually isn't. But that's just me, and must times I only leave a post from my favorite writers hanging if it's already too old, I do feel like my contributions won't matter anymore.

I totally understand how you feel, while engaging everywhere yet don't get engaged could be frustrating.

Thanks for the feedback.

But generally, lately there has been a little slow traffic on leofinance.io, that could be the main reason...

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Probably.

I've noticed the same with my posts. Overall there's still a lot of interaction, but I have the occasional post with only 1 or 2 comments.
Personally, I don't mind a lengthy post, I'd even say I enjoy longer posts more than short ones. My one posts seldom are below 1000 words and I wouldn't want to trim them either.

The only comment I have on my previous post is my own... That got me frustrated.

If you think your posts may be too long you could always break them up into two parts and have a part 1 and part 2 post. But honestly, leofinance is meant for long form so I don't know if that is the issue. Also, I think it is relative. You had rather uncommon and fast success on here and maybe it is just a hang over from that. Interaction will ebb and flow.

I can't trim anything honestly. I like pouring words to my posts, but I started thinking that I probably make them too long and people got bored reading them...

What's ebb by the way. Non Native English speaker here.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Wow, I never would have guessed you were not a native speaker. Your written english is better than mine!

Ebb and flow is basically a term similar to the tide (as in the ocean) going out and coming in.

I try my best not to make fool of myself with my shity English. I'm Romanian by the way.

I have little time in the community but I still think I am in the top 20 of people who comment on it or at least that is what I saw a few days ago in some data shared in @leomarkettalk, I have seen your articles and the vast majority are very good quality, so rather I think it may be due to a general drop in interest in the community, a few weeks ago we lived days of total euphoria with really juicy prices and profit, but I think we are in that process of correction, the rest follows Go ahead, your work is excellent, as the adoption increases, new readers will arrive who we will have to guide, this part I say from my own experience, I have had to ask a lot to learn what little I know so far! Congratulations!

Thanks for the feedback.

I think I've read you ask this question before and frankly speaking, I don't think there's anything like "too long".

In my experience, I've found that the length of an article doesn't necessarily affect the interactions as much as the quality of the article.

As long as the article is centred around a topic and doesn't endlessly ramble on any issue or get boring, pretty sure it will get interaction.

Also, it is important to note that the unique nature of this place also ensures that people with bigger dicks stake will receive more attention than the less endowed.

Some valid points here.

Am actually also experiencing the same thing but am thinking about what Could be the reason and i think i could say the first picture of the post, how it look attractive can also determine if attention would be drawn

If it's related to price, I don't want to think as far as the bear market then. Few will say a word then, lol. Yes, I noticed a slower activity/interaction, and I don't write posts as long as you do. So, maybe that's not it.

I have seen your articles and the vast majority are very good quality!! your work is excellent
