It shouldn't matter which country is used when you store fully encrypted data, but we're still dealing with flawed institutions called governments. So we're following a form of "trust, but verify" since we can't trust them 100%.
that's a pretty important question. My only guess is, maybe they're giving users the option to contribute to data of certain countries 🤣🤣 but I have no idea why
