Florida man charged with smuggling technology into Russia, federal authorities say
A Florida man who is president of a freight forwarding company has been indicted in federal court in connection with the alleged smuggling of technology into Russia, authorities said Wednesday.
Kirill Gordei, 34, of Hallandale, Fla., was indicted on charges of conspiracy to commit offenses against the United States, smuggling goods from the United States, and export of a commerce control item, which requires a license, the US attorney’s office said in a statement.
Gordei was arrested in Florida on Sunday and released on conditions after making an initial appearance Tuesday in the Middle District of Florida, prosecutors said. He will appear in US District Court in Boston later.
