Sunday lunch in the mountains

in Weekend Experiences5 months ago
It has been 40 days since my husband and I arrived in Mexico. It has been a long journey from Cuba to Uruguay and from there, after a year we have decided to move to another country.

In all the places we have been we have felt the helping hand and the true feelings of human beings that, the more humility they have, the bigger their heart is.

But, of all the people we have met, this Mexican family has stolen our hearts and they have welcomed us as if we were those children they need or those young souls they want to cheer their hearts.
Be that as it may, what is certain is that, in the rental we are in they have taken charge of our lives. They have helped us with feeding, first aid and the basics. In addition, they have become our guides and have advised us on the stores we should buy, the safest places to be and everything we need to live.

However, what we experienced this Sunday was unparalleled because we were invited to a picnic. My husband and I looked at each other because we didn't have much to bring, but, with that psychology that comes from years of experience, they told us that we shouldn't bring anything, just our anatomies.

I admit that my first impulse was not to go because it seemed to me to be an abuse of their generosity, but the insistence and the joy expressed in their faces did not make me hesitate.

Around 10 o'clock in the morning we left for the mountains, which meant my first time in a geographical accident of this type, in a place called El Cerro Las Manzanillas, belonging to Leon Guanajuato, in Mexico. This is a wonderful place, with an intense green in plants and soil.

In the place of our lunch there live families of our savior angels. Right away they started setting up the cooking place and the smell of meat, chorizo and everything else made us gather around the makeshift kitchen.

I ate Mexican tacos, steak, sancocho, drank soda, ate vegetables and more.

It was an incredible evening and, when I got home, I took a shower and wanted to share this experience with you.

It is true that the lunch was spectacular, but, what I enjoyed the most was the affection of this family that is as humble as it is giant and has so much spiritual richness to give that they have become part of our carnal family.

Thank you friends for this special Sunday.
