Funny, I was about to make a similar post:
- I would remove the 7-days payout period and make a system where posts would in some way remain able to receive votes regardless if they would be even years old. I know this would tax a lot on the blockchains transactions, but maybe make it so after the 7 days a post becomes inactive, but would become active for another 7 days if someone were to upvote it. What do I know?
I think this would promote much better behavior in terms of content instead of most posts being super shallow. It would also create much more incentive for already well-established content creators on other platforms to join in.
Just like you Reblogging so it's not just a reblog, but it is possible to add a comment to it like if I were to reblog this post I could add a comment on top saying "What would you guys change on Hive?"
Autovoting is a bit too lucrative, would be nice to see this gone as well.
Well it could pay out every 7 days and get back to zero that would attract bigger youtubers and stuff like that. I like it but I think it wouldn't work at this stage. probably when theres loads of people. It can be really easy to abuse as well. Interesting idea never the less
I agree with your points things that are tools for abusing the system should be put down. at least if they are going to exploit let them do that manually with a cooldown say 1 vote after every other 3 minutes. or some sorts.
I generally agree with that.
If this was possible, it would be possible to vote on the same post twice, by powering down and powering up with a different account.
True that. But then again, since powering down is slow and are occupying the current HP one would power down, wouldn't it just be easier anyways just making a bunch of comments or Posts and self vote those? I fail to see how this would make problems for abusing since there are already easier ways to abuse the system lol.
It would be exploitable. If it becomes more profitable to stay in powerdown and move the HP from account to account, people will actually do that.
This has been a question since the very beginning and (believe it or not) you are not the first one to make such a suggestion. Honestly, it is kind of stupid, like sun's idea to make the powerdown period shorter than the posting reward window. It makes no sense and doesn't fkn work. (lol)
Justin probably just plans to do exactly what you suggested lol.
Back in the olden days, posts would pay out once at the 24 hour mark, then once again at the 30 day mark.
Back then, the powerdown period was longer, too.
Oh yea, i remember the 2 year powerdown.
I just mention it, because the power down period can not be shorter than the post payout period.
The old system was better imo, at least it was a turn away point for those greedy spammers with zero interest on the platform.
