Re-encountering my precious Atlas of National Geographic

I recently visited my mom in the house where I used to live and while looking through my old room I was able to find some National Geographic atlases that were given to me as a gift a few years ago. I remember that they were a very precious gift because since I was a child I have loved books and encyclopedias, I always liked to see the graphics, maps, photographs of nature and other elements that somehow open the doors to the world. There are a total of twelve atlases which are loaded with valuable information to strengthen our general culture and to satisfy our curiosity to know the world.

The first ones I will show you are 3 atlases corresponding to the American continent. The America I atlas shows information corresponding to North America and Central America and the America II atlas shows information corresponding to South America. We can find population, agricultural, industrial and geographic data, as well as maps, reliefs, among many other things. While atlas America III shows spectacular photos of ethnicities, culture, animals and landscapes.

The same happens with the three atlases of Asia, I and II show information of the countries, while number III shows photos of the most important elements of the mentioned continent.

As far as Europe is concerned, I regret to tell you that atlas number III was never included in the gift, so the large photos showing the most important elements of the continent are only in my imagination. The atlases corresponding to Africa and Oceania were also not included in the gift, however, that never tarnished my appreciation for such an important gift.

On the other hand, I have four atlases that show globalized information of the earth, oceans and islands, in addition, I also have an atlas of geography and an index of place names which I never understood since it only shows large lists of information that I don't know.

I hope to keep for the rest of my life these atlases that taught me many things, I spent hours reading them and seeing the spectacular photos that, as I said before, opened the doors to the world. By the way, I'm sorry that my reflection is seen in some of the photos, I couldn't avoid it haha.

You are part of the collection too :D

That was a great gift you got and I am glad your mom keeps these books. A pity the third from Europe is missing.

You beat me with this collection, I have just one

Yes, it's a pity, the number III of Europe corresponds to photographs and we know how beautiful European cities are.

That one you have is a visual atlas, I guess it only shows photographs, that is, it does not show information or data of the Asian continent, I like the visual ones more.

That's a great collection of encyclopedias! I remember when I was a kid some of my friends had similar collections and I envied them, as my parents couldn't afford to buy them... Later, I remember I was collecting some computer magazines, but have no idea where they are...

Thanks for sharing!

It has never been easy to have encyclopedias like these, in fact, if they had not been given to me as a gift I probably would not have been able to buy them either.

It would be great if you could find those computer magazines, and even if these are completely out of date it's always good to remember.

Thanks for the support!

They surely would be out of date! PC 486 was the future in those days... 😂

so the large photos showing the most important elements of the continent are only in my imagination

This scene came to my mind with this sentence haha well, I didn't find the gif where the phrase “only lives in my memory” is said, but I guess it's valid 😂

How cute they are, they look well preserved and the fact that you have read them for hours says a lot about how fascinated you are with this subject, it's a different way to travel and know the world 😍

My mind definitely flew to other places thanks to these atlases, I remembered beautiful things while making this post.

And don't worry, the gif is completely valid 😅.

Childhood Things Whenever we see this way, all the childhood memories are fresh. Parents do everything for their children so that their children can live a happy life.

Wowww, I remembered a collection I had, it was in Argentina, it was about wildlife animals... what a beautiful collection you have, I love it!🤗
