RE: Western Australian Museum: PERTH, AUSTRALIA

Ahh so many familiar looking things XD I love the museum and while it's better in a lot of ways I'm still not sure about the build (eldest's description is that it looks like a dodgy Minecraft build and I'm inclined to agree with him). The aesthetics of the older building were a lot nicer (heavy bias as I really like old architecture).

The blue whale skeleton is across the bridge from the hands on area, I'm guessing from the lack of photo that you didn't find it :<

the reveal for it is pretty great but I'm also grouchy that they cut the building

Did you see the ancient grapevine?

I should check for more special exhibitions at the museum and see if I'm able to drag my two remaining homeschoolies to something. The year has just kind of flown past with them doing their own thing at their own pace, but I don't have a lot of documentation aaaaaahhhhhhh.

Sort:

LOL, dodgy Minecraft!

No, I didn't find the blue whale... I did remember it vaguely as being across the street, but I didn't see any bridge connection.

I also missed the ancient grapevine!

Oh, you have to do documentation for homeschooling?? Sounds tedious...

It was just past the hands on area! You had to go out the upstairs and turn left and there's a corridor that you go down and then it's RIGHT THERE.

I think, I know it's around there somewhere.

I have two shots from a homeschool miscellany post from 2021.

And here's the grapevine from a very slightly earlier visit:

That one was pretty easy to miss as it's closer to the minor entrance/exit where I think there's a cafe and on the outside. I probably have a shot of the original wooden frame (that was kind of attached to/part of the building behind it) that it used to climb on but that's more searching than I feel like doing while caffeinating ^_^;

The documentation is kind of tedious but it's not too hard in the grand scheme. My blogs are pretty much it, I just have to collate them into a pdf to send off and the moderator (who has since retired, I'm really hoping I get another great one for the next two years, 17yo will finish end of this year and then it's just 15yo to go I'm so oooooooooooollllllllld aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh) goes through it and does the actual report from that.

I am really very extremely behind this year aaaaahhhhhh

Hmmm... I don't remember seeing that! Weird, it is huge...
