What is your opinion about choosing a toy for your children? Is it just meant to entertain the kids or is there something more than that? In many countries, the toy business is a major contributor to the economy. The government has a lot of revenue from manufacturing and exporting it to other countries. In the local place, there are sections in big malls that only specialize in toys such as Toy Kingdom and World of Fun. This is evidence that toys play an important role in a child's development. Why?
Often, parents will buy toys for their children to have fun or be happy. That is true. When you buy your child a toy, there is no comparison to the happiness he feels. There are many benefits that the toy can give. Let's just talk about two of them.
First, the toy can provide physical benefits. This will help gradually strengthen the child's fingers, hands, and feet as well as their muscles and bones. Second, the toy helps the child's mental development.
The toys are designed in different colors that are very attractive for children and help them to recognize colors. Noting the colors will improve their memory. In other words, the toy has a direct effect on the child's brain. It has a great influence on the child's mind and personality.
The human brain is a huge vessel of information. A child's brain seems empty at birth. For that reason, the child can easily absorb information from the environment around him. This means that his mind, passion, and personality can be shaped by the information he sees and hears. Therefore, through the environment, passion, and behavior of the people surrounding the child, it is possible to predict what kind of person that child will be when he grows up.
For example, if people around him are all passionate about motor-riding, they will often talk about their motor-riding experiences. Parents will buy their children a toy motorcycle. When they watch a movie they choose those motor riding competitions. The video game they love to play is motorcycle racing. Using these activities, hobbies, and passion we can predict that the child will be a motor rider when he grows up. Why?
As I have said earlier a child's brain is ready to absorb all information from the environment by his observations. There, he will develop his passion for what he usually sees or hears. As a parent, what kind of skills or profession do you want your child to have when he grows up?
For example, do you wish that when your child grows up he will be an architect or an engineer? You can develop your child's passion for architecture and engineering. In what way?
One effective way is by choosing toys related to architectural engineering like structural buildings. This does not mean that we should limit ourselves to providing which toy to give that will make the child happy. However, starting from childhood when his brain seems empty of information, the passion you want him to have should come first.
This is a great help for him to accept your advice when he grows up on what course to choose because his heart is already prepared. As parents, we have different preferences on what course to choose for our child. It will depend on our situation and needs.
Nevertheless, there are professions that we don't like. For example, if we don't want our son to be a policeman because it is a dangerous profession, we might decide not to buy toy guns or any lethal weapons for our son. Why? If we buy toy guns or any toy related to the police profession for our child, he will gradually develop a passion for becoming a policeman. Because of that, you will have a hard time convincing your child to become an architect.
What about freedom of choice? Does this mean that we are the ones who decide for our child what to choose? Parents are the ones who know what is best for their children. But when our son grows up and can make a decision, he must fully understand the advantages and disadvantages of his decision.
This idea of choosing toys we want our child to play with is just a guide for him to develop the passion we want him to have. It also helps the parents so that it is not difficult to convince them what we think is good for their child in the future. But when they become adults, parents will give them the right to decide so that they will act without being forced. Choosing a toy seems like a small matter. But you will not notice that it has a great influence on the inclination and personality of the child as they grow.
My dear Hive friends, that's all I can share for this blog. Thank you for stopping by.
I agree as parents we must be very particular in selecting the type of toys for our children. It's not only that can enhance the child's brain development but its side effects on one's health.
