Lately my children have been buying potato chips from a business, they are from the packaging you see on the cover and below. I have been thinking about using these containers, since the cardboard they are made of is of good quality, and I am also using their transparent plastic lids to classify things.
Today I want to do 3 utilitarian projects, that's what I call them because their purpose is to solve or improve a situation, they have a purpose of use, but of course we always have to give our personal touch to each project. Welcome...
Últimamente mis hijos están comprando papas fritas de un emprendimiento, son de ese envase que ven en la portada y a continuación. He estado pensando en aprovechar esos envases, ya que son de buena calidad el cartón del que están hechos, y sus tapas plásticas transparentes también las estoy usando para clasificar cosas.
El día de hoy quiero realizar 3 proyectos utilitarios, así los llamo porque su razón de ser es resolver o mejorar una situación, tienen un objetivo de uso, pero por supuesto que siempre hay que darle nuestro toque personal a cada proyecto. Bienvenidos...
- Red, white and pink foam.
- Buttons or decorative elements.
- Zigzag scissors and normal cut scissors.
- 1 Florist wire.
- Cutting pliers.
- White cold paint and brush.
- Hot glue gun.
- Wooden stick.
- Foami rojo, blanco y rosado.
- Botones o elementos decorativos.
- Tijera de forma zig zag y de corte normal.
- 1 Alambre de floristería.
- Pinza de corte.
- Pintura al frío color blanco, y pincel.
- Pistola de silicón caliente.
- Palito de madera.
This technique for marking cylindrical shapes that we are going to cut is great, because it allows us to mark and have everything stay the same height.
We locate a container or something that has the height we want to reach once we cut. Then, on top of that container we place a marker using our hand, and we do not move it. What we are going to rotate is the container that we are going to cut. A continuous line will be made that will coincide at the beginning and the end. Now I will be able to cut with good scissors, and I will do it easily because it is quality cardboard, but thin.
Esta técnica para marcar formas cilíndricas que vamos a cortar es buenísima, porque nos permite marcar y que quede todo del mismo alto.
Ubicamos un envase o algo que tenga la altura que queremos alcanzar una vez que cortemos. Entonces, arriba de ese envase colocamos un marcador utilizando nuestra mano, y no la movemos. Lo que vamos a girar es el envase que vamos a cortar. Se va a hacer una línea continua que va a coincidir el inicio y el final. Ahora si podré cortar con una buena tijera, y lo haré fácilmente porque es cartón de calidad, pero delgado.
1- Thread Cone Base - Sewing
I use red foam to cover the body of the container. I cut a thin strip of white foam with the zigzag scissors on one side. This strip will be decorative on the top.
I will use some buttons to decorate, and I will mark the circumference of the white foam and then cut it out with the zigzag scissors. This will be a base to highlight the buttons more.
1- Base para Cono de Hilo - Costura
Con foami de color rojo, forro el cuerpo del envase. Corto una tira delgada en foami blanco con la tijera de zig zag en uno de sus lados, esta tira será decorativa en la parte superior.
Utilizaré unos botones para decorar, y en foami blanco marco su circunferencia y luego recorto con la tijera de zig zag. Esto será una base para destacar más los botones.

Using the florist wire and a marker, I wrap it 3 times to get that shape. I remove them and now fix it to the wooden stick, wrapping it 2 or 3 times, as many times as necessary to keep it stable and fixed. I cut off the excess with the cutting pliers.
Con el alambre de alambre de floristería y ayudándome de un marcador, doy 3 vueltas para obtener esa forma. Los retiro y ahora lo fijo en el palito de madera, dando 2 vueltas o 3 vueltas, las que se necesiten para que quede estable y fijo, corto el excedente con la pinza de corte.

I paint the wooden stick and the ring that I fixed to one of its ends white.
Using a hot glue gun, I attach the decorative foam elements that I had prepared earlier, the buttons and also the already dry stick.

2- Clip Holder - Sewing
Using another container of potato chips, I cut the container to a different height using the same technique. I covered it with red foam.
I also decorated it with buttons, for which I made the same base and the border to decorate in white foam.
2- Depósito para Clips de Presión - Costura
Con otro envase de papas fritas, corté con la misma técnica a otra altura el envase. Forré con foami rojo.
Igualmente decoré con botones a los que hice la misma base y el borde para decorar en foami blanco.

Así de sencillo pero hermoso quedó este envase para tener siempre a mi alcance y en un solo lugar, los clips de presión que utilizo cuando realizo trabajos de costura como cartucheras, bolsos, algunas piezas de indumentarias, que resulta más conveniente colocar clips de presión que alfileres.
Ahora tienen un lugar muy bello y dispondré de esta herramienta con mucha facilidad.

3- Storage for Jewelry Supplies- Jewelry
It turns out that many times, the muse comes to me to make a bracelet for example, and the inspiration and good vibes were so great that I end up visualizing other designs while I'm putting one together. So what I usually do is use lids like those of these potato chip containers to store the selected supplies for when I go to make the bracelet. So, I want to make a very low storage to store those supplies.
Using the same technique above, I mark the container with a low height and cut it with scissors.
Since I'm using the upper part that I had left over from one of the previous projects, I must make the bottom. With a piece of cardboard, I mark the circumference.
3- Depósito para guardar Insumos de Bisutería- Bisutería
Resulta que muchas veces, me llega la musa para realizar una pulsera por ejemplo, y fue tal la inspiración y buena vibra que termino visualizando otros diseños mientras voy armando uno. Entonces lo que suelo hacer es utilizar tapas como la de estos envases de papas fritas para dejar los insumos seleccionados para cuando vaya a hacer la pulsera. Entonces, quiero hacer un depósito muy bajo de altura para guardar esos insumos.
Con la misma técnica anterior marco con baja altura el envase y corto con la tijera.
Ya que estoy aprovechando en esta ocasión la parte superior que me sobró de uno de los proyectos anteriores, debo hacerle el fondo. Con un trozo de cartón, marco la circunferencia.

I cover it with pink foam, and decorate it with a decorative element in the shape of a heart.

Here you can see that I had these supplies with a green color palette and some stones and chain. I have had them in that lid since the previous bracelet project, I haven't had time to make it yet. Having them in that lid is a bit risky because it can easily tip over and lose some.
Now I have this container with a lid, so I made it much lower in height, to take the supplies more easily, and the transparent lid is a total plus to have it.
I liked that the recycled cardboard I used for the base had white laminate on one side, and I left it for the inside of this container, which makes it much easier to see the elements or supplies I have stored. This way I can decide which design to make, and I say this because I want to make more of these containers to have the following jewelry projects on hand.
Aquí pueden ver que tenía estos insumos con paleta de colores verdes y unas piedras y cadena, las tengo en esa tapa desde el proyecto anterior de pulsera, aún no he tenido tiempo para hacerla. Tenerlas en esa tapa es algo riesgoso porque se puede voltear fácilmente y perder algunas.
Ahora tengo este depósito con tapa, por esto lo hice mucho más bajo de altura, para tomar los insumos con mayor facilidad, y la tapa transparente es un Plus total tenerla.
Me gustó que el cartón reciclado que usé para la base, en uno de sus lados tenía un plastificado blanco, y lo dejé para la parte de adentro de este envase, lo cual facilita mucho más ver los elementos o insumos que tengo guardados. Así puedo decidir cual diseño hacer, y digo esto porque quiero hacer más de estos envases para tener los siguientes proyectos de bisutería a la mano.
