The new worker might be overwhelmed when she sees a schedule for the entire month! It might be wise to start looking for a replacement, and when you find one, you could let her go. (Easier said than done, which is why there is a probationary period.) That sounds a bit harsh!
It may be a packaging issue. Is anything missing from the package? Consider reporting this packaging problem to Amazon for quality control.
When I was a child, I often pictured myself as tiny, as if I could slip beneath the broad cap of a mushroom in the forest. In my imagination, the vibrant colors of the mushroom's surface towered above me, creating a cozy little hideaway where I could escape the world and explore a fantastical realm of wonder and whimsy.

Hey sis! After actually writing the schedule out; she only has 8 days of work for the month of December! I'm not sure that would be overwhelming to her. Unfortunately, it became clear tonight that she won't be able to fulfill the 2 days left of November and one so far, of the days in December. I am glad that I am not the one to have to let her go, should it come to that. I used to be charged with the duty when I was an assistant manager for a big box retail; most of the time, it was the layoffs just before Christmas that they gifted me with the job of telling the employees. I hated it!
In the case of the Amazon box, I don't understand why UPS didn't just tape it up and mark that it was not sealed originally. That way, nothing might be lost. Fortunately for me, the shipment had large enough items in it that it would have been noticeable should anything have fallen out.
Back in my early chain days, I used to write a series called 'A view from a world within' and it often was the imaginary story of what if you were small enough to be traveling under all that there is in the forest. It was pretty cool.
I've always wanted to write a book; maybe someday I should try children's stories.
I did achieve the writing of a song and actually getting to sing it for worship at church. It was quite the experience.
