a few random shots from Buttonwood park

Good Morning and i hope all is well with you and that life is treating you well

I did go for a walk in buttonwood Park yesterday Which as I prepare this post as a draft was the 4th of December, it was a cold day at the time I went for a walk in mid afternoon the temp was 35F i believe, colder than I normally go out for walks but i was going a bit crazy not getting out for walks so went out for a short one, I was layered up and didnt feel to too cold, other than my fingers, when out for walks with my camera i wear fingerless gloves to control the camera.

but that all said the photos I share todaya are not from yesterdays walk, I am just importing them off the camera and it was overcast and dull so not the best of photos but i may use them for a Wednesday walk post soon,

this was from a walk a couple of weeks ago on a far nicer day

Starting with a couple of the trees in the arborterium in the park

a little bit about the park
Located on 97 acres in New Bedford’s West End, Buttonwood Park is the largest and most visited public park in the city. The park is an oasis of nature right here in New Bedford, with gardens, a pond, an arboretum, walking paths, a playground, a zoo, and several ball fields and basketball courts.

Buttonwood Park is not just a treasure for its recreational opportunities — it’s also a historical treasure. In 1895, Charles Eliot of the famed architectural firm Olmsted, Olmsted & Eliot developed the original master plan for the park. In 1988, a new Olmsted-inspired master plan was adopted, serving as a blueprint for The Friends of Buttonwood Park to improve the park.

In 2000, Buttonwood Park and parts of the surrounding neighborhood were listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Today, Buttonwood Park offers the community a place to escape from the stresses of city life and enjoy nature

it is quite close to where i live but in the warmer months i do not visit it so much, then I go out for early morning walks whuile my wife is still sleeping ad catch the sunrise often by the coast here. but inthe cooler months when I am not going out for early morning walks and instad popping out occassionally for afternoon walks, I go to Buttonwood often because its close, its beautiful, and I can get there get a nice walk in and get bakc home without leavign my wife stuck at home alone for too long

MY wife before she had a hip replacement and then a broken shoulder would often join me for day time walks, but now she is not so much into getting out walking especially when it is cold

Good morning dear friend @tattoodjay
I also don't want to go out for a walk when it's very cold, but like you, I don't really like staying locked up at home

What beautiful photographs, especially those of the park garden

Have a beautiful day

Those little garden areas look really awesome. I could totally see myself just sitting there for a while and enjoying the sights and sounds!

That looks like a cozy place to takr a breather @tattoodjay . Pleasant walk, greens around and catching the sunrise would make your day fantastic for sure. Thank you for sharing your neighbourhood.

Is a lovely place to be

This park amazed me

What beautiful pictures! That was certainly several months ago, but what a nice park to have close to home. I didn't know your wife broke her shoulder and had a hip replacement. That will slow down just about anyone. I do hope she can back to walking, but not easy after what she's been through.

That first shot of the tree is nice, and I love that flower close up as well. Great job on the photography as always!
