Having fun with Intentional Camera Movement photos

in Photography Lovers3 years ago

Yesterday afternoon, I saw @fotostef getting ready to go out with a sparkle in the eyes that hadn't seen for quite some time now. He was going to experiment on taking some photos and I got excited, I love new games! The name of the new game is Intentional Camera Movement and here I am! First time taking these kind of shots. I enjoyed it so much that I think I am going to do it again soon.

Some backstage photos. @fotostef doing his thing! After having helped me understand what I have to do :)

I really like this one, the tiny playground of the village. I like the colors, they are more vivid, but at the same time the feeling is dark.

And the beloved sage!

Here are some more pictures with more light colors and a more abstract result.

For the end, the most abstract finale. I couldn't resist. In the beginning I wanted the subject to be clear. After a while I started enjoying the freedom of the movement and at the end fantasy won :)

This post was inspired by @fotostef that introduced me to the ICM technique although he also tried it yesterday for the first time and you can check the outstanding results here. And of course none of these would have happened if it wasn't for the amazing IMC Photography Quest by @qurator!

How wonderful it feels learning new things, playing new games and seeing the world from another perspective.

If you would like to know more about me this is my introduction post!

Wow you got some great shots. Those last two are great. It is hard to decide which I like best, I think with my propensity toward minimalism the very last one is my favorite! So fun. Maybe I will bring my camera to work tomorrow. There is not a lot of light outside of work time. Or this weekend I will go out and play!

Thank you Sara! I like the last one, too! In the beginning it felt weird to share it (not what we all have in mind when talking about photos), but now I am glad I did!
I think you are going to have a great time!

Looks like you guys had a blast!
^^really like the outcome of it, my favorite is ''olive grove in spiral'', such a decent shot!

Oh yes, we did :)
Glad you liked it! It felt a bit uncomfortable in the beginning to share them, haha, but I loved the techique and I recommend you to try it if you have the mood and time!
Thank you so much for your beautiful comment!

You've definitely inspired me to try something new, and just have some fun experimenting :D So, thank you too! haha

I think @fotostef should be worried, you learn very quickly and well. You have managed some interesting and pleasing to look "paintings". The fact that you named them makes me think you consider them paintings too. if I can pick a favorite, this is it: Entities of the mountain.

He was going to experiment on taking some photos and I got excited, I love new games!

Here I resemble you with my only granddaughter, Ilinca. She, too, is excited by everything new and wants to try everything. Her first painting was a few days ago. Please forgive the weird video. My son is experimenting too.

This is by far the best and sweetest resemblance I have EVER heard!
I love Ilinca, I think we could be good friends, hahaha! Her painting and my photos look quite similar :))
As well as the experimental video, all fit perfectly!

I am glad that you found them "pleasing to look", I wasn't sure :)

If I can pick a favorite, this is it: Entities of the mountain.

I think the last ones got pretty interesting, when I stopped "worrying" about the buject to be recognizable. Looking at it now, I think it is my favorite, too.

Thank you so much for this beautiful message and for sharing the video of amazing Ilinca!

I'm so glad you like the likeness I saw. I saw your joy that you were able to take those photos, a real joy that mature people don't often have. It's different with children, since Ilinca, I can't stop being amazed. I am impressed by her immense desire to learn, to have it all. With children of this age, there is no lie. When she enjoys, she truly enjoys, she is drawn to everything that is new to her! In you, I saw a similar enthusiasm. I can't enjoy myself in that way anymore, for comparison.

The photo I chose has tension in it, the others are beautiful, some are like watercolors, but this one scares me a little, so it stands out from the others.

Actually, I am so honored to be compared to Ilinca :)
Although her enthusiasm must be greater than mine, haha!

Interesting that it scares you! When I was taking each photo, I was looking at the screen to see how the movement had worked, in this particular one, for a moment I believed that another reality had been captured and I thought of all these great spirits of the plants and animals and felt accompanied and happy.
Apart from enthusiasm, I have a great imagination, too :))

Thank you for that. The comparison was a bit risky, some might get upset. I was thinking of the spirit, the personality I guess in Ilinca, the way I imagine you are, so it shows, the permanent young spirit! You are young, but compared to Ilinca, life leaves traces in us. I want to say that the other person who looks like Ilinca and to whom I often say this is Magda, my wife. Magda is 70 years old but she has kept the soul of a child, the joy of a child!

When I saw the photo I was reminded of a famous painting, The Scream by Edward Munch. It struck me as a detail from the painting, with an entity holding its hands over its head. It's very nice that you saw some friendly spirits!

Oh, Magda is the sweetest soul, I can see it in every detail in the photos :)

I am sooo happy I didn't think of The Sream while shooting, hahaha!

Thank you, I dare say you know people well, especially since you do it indirectly, from different pieces gathered from different places. Impressive!
Good thing you didn't think! Anyway, with the ICM technique, you can't really know what the result will be. Maybe it looks like a child's watercolor or a famous painting... Maybe let your imagination find similarities and meanings when looking at the photos.

Wow, this feels like going back home early in the morning after a night out of heavy drinking. And we desperately try to unlock the doors but the keys are not working, then we discover it's the neighbor's door.

Hahaha, exactly! I remember the feeling pretty well!
I guess I have to work on the technique a lot!!!
