Ugh. Don't you hate spending all your time writing posts a couple of days in advance so you get some free time, then accidentally press the publish button instead?
So here's me trying to make up for it by quickly trying to post something of value - because I feel bad for taking some votes I probably don't deserve. Let's see how I go in the next five minutes, hey?
Not everyone here cares, though. Last week, in my capacity as an admin for a community here, I asked a guy to post short form on Snaps instead of in the community. I'd let it go quite a number of times before, and even voted and encouraged him on a couple. I even reminded him the community rule was 300 words, which was quite short for a community. We'd reached that number by community consensus. It seemed fair, as others went to some effort for support in the form of votes and reshares. And now we had shortform like Snaps, why not post there, where we'd be willing to give it a full upvote?
Instead of discussing it with me, he kinda went mental. He believed he had the freedom to write what he wanted, when he wanted, how he wanted, and wherever he wanted.
Fair enough. Maybe he did. Not something I'd wanna really argue with on a platform where the users are fed up with mainstream media and want a bit more freedom and didn't want to be censored.
I guess what boggled me was his reaction - he was angry, vengeful and pretty much an asshole, saying we didn't deserve to even see a picture of a tree and so on and so forth. He then went and downvoted a few of the community posts, therefore taking it away from others in the community.
Sigh.
Look, I've been chastised here many a time for breaking rules in communities because I've been careless and didn't pay attention to the rules. I've accidentally left off tags, missed word counts and deadlines. Do I throw a massive hissy fit when I'm told what to do? No. I either say sorry and change what I've done, or I just don't post in that community anymore and find somewhere that better aligns. Too easy. It's actually that easy.
I really can't understand why people kick up such a massive fuss over what's essentially nothing. Are they defending their identity? Are they failing to read the room? Do they think they're under attack personally?
The hilarious thing was that in the next community post, I broke the very rule I instructed the guy to follow. Facepalm.
There. Five minutes is up. Post failure rectified.
But I wasn't going to get all defensive and lose my shit when someone pulled me up on it. That would be a double facepalm. In my mind, it's better to just say sorry, my bad, and move on.
Right?

Outright fucking loons...hahaha lmao, nailed it. You've been around long enough to know!!!
LOL!!!!!
yup guess so, have a great week
Many people don't want to be lectured and just want to get what they want. Sorry is not in their dictionary :) rude people everywhere
That's why it's so hard to tell people. oh you've been patient enough and taken your time to tell him.
I hate being lectured as well! But you have to control your reaction and realize it's often not personal at all, just about behavior which is easily fixed or just walk away and let it go, it's not worth having a tantrum over it 🤣🤣🤣
😂 That's a bad vibe. I avoid people with bad vibes like a plague. I don't know that person could've just walked away and that was it. Or perhaps post somewhere else. It's the internet afterall.
Do you get them sometimes in the book club? Seriously.. mental health problems!!!
Not really, I think. Most of the time I just ignore people and trying not to be on their radar esp the bad vibes ones 🤣
As a new member it's not easy learning the hive etiquette, but the least you can do is listen to the comments you're getting in my opinion 🤨clearly this guys thinks otherwise!
There's definitely some people with 'issues' here as much as they're really cool people. Welcome!
You don't know how much I relate to this. Mine is on a smaller scale, but I've come to realize how different people are from myself, and I still don't know if I can accept it or simply endure.
I stay at the college dorms and I just see these things play out in diverse ways, and I'm like, "It's okay to be free and do what you want, but why can't you just take a moment to consider the impact of your actions on the next person."
It's not that deep and no one is asking you to constantly put people's needs above yours. Like you said, it's just basic courtesy. I said I'd come back tired from lectures and just needed to sleep off a bit. But you'd make insanely loud calls, cackling all night in the room for four hours straight. It's really sad. Sorry about the poor lady. Hope she can one day move or maybe he moves.
Literally my entire post in a nutshell babev!
Sorry you're dealing with assholes on dorm. Do you have good noise cancelling headpohones and earplugs?
Thank you, dear. I just got earpods recently that has a noise cancellation feature. It doesn't blur out the noise completely, but it's effective to an extent.
Ah so frustrating for you. X

Yeah definitely! We all get hurt but how you react is a sign of maturity.
oh my!!!
what a $%# insert what ever Australian value swear words you like. (We sure have a few)
i know right! its easy to mess the rules up by accident.
you are allowed to have standards in your communities. if peeps want to post whatever they can do so somewhere else and deal with the vote amount from there.
fancy going off at someone like that. JErk. lol.
And yes, i also hate it when you pre-write and either post by accident, post to the wrong place, or post a draft. this platform is not very forgiving with removing content. lol
anyway have a great day.
Thing is, you CANT remove content haha. It's always there.
Look I hate laying down law and am hopeless at it but to me it's more about being fair and also making it nice for anyone off chain to come play!
And yeah what a fkn tool eh.
yes a tool...
Sounds like a wonderful adult although more than likely they are quiet as a mouse in the physical world and revert to being an online bully lol.
I hate when I publish instead of schedule :D sometimes I’ll schedule 2 posts on the same day by accident too that’s annoying haha.
Yeah so annoying!!!
