Cada 21 de junio en la ciudad de Yulin, celebran una fiesta en la que asesinan miles de perros y gatos de las maneras más inhumanas posibles para ser comidos durante esa celebración, siendo la mayoría robados de sus dueños.
Un estimado de 10 millones de perros y 4 millones de gatos mueren al año en China para fines alimentarios, siendo miles de ellos lo hacen durante estas fiestas según las organizaciones no gubernamentales.
