Mythical Creatures


We are asked to give a brief description of the following mythical creatures.

  • Centaurs are a mixture of man and horse. They have a horse body and the torso, head and arms of a man. They were horned. Centaurs are part of Greek mythology. They were wild and brutal creatures. However, in the stories of JK Rowings and CS Lewis, they are noble warriors.


  • Satyrs were fertility spirts in Greek mythology. They loved food, wine, and women. They had the body of a man of the waist up and of a goat from the waist down. They also had horns. They liked to party and could become uncontrollable. However Mr Tumnus in the Lion,the Witch, and the Wardrobe was mild-mannered and drank only tea.

  • Griffins were winged, mythological creatures with the body of a lion and a head and talons of an eagle. It was regarded as the king of all creatures. They are found in many mythologies.

  • the adaro were Polynesian water sprits, or merpeople. They had a torso of a human, gills, the tail of a fish, and swordfish spear growing out of their heads. They are said to be malevolent.

  • The tarasque was a colossal monster, the French version of a dragon, with a lion's head, a turtle's shell, a scorpion's sting, and the legs of a bear.

  • The akhlut was Inuit mythical creature of half orca and half wolf. It was vicious and dangerous. In some tellings, it was a shape shifter.
