RE: Amazing reminder of how America should work from the good folks at The Tenth Amendment Center.

The constitution became a useless text when Washington 'federalized' the militia. It no longer was a representing document of a 'free state' as mentioned in the second amendment, and through such actions created a federal standing army equal to or greater in size than the original revolutionary army.

It wasn't long before veterans of the revolutionary army would see the drafted federal army marching against them and killing them.

With whatever was spoken about a standing army Washington wanted a military academy which was to become West Point. The establishment of the national standing military complex. So the continued army was not an artifact of civil power from that point on, but under military power as the first president deployed it.

The principles of the Bill of Rights didn't make it through the first president, why would it hold until now?
