RE: Hello Steemit! - Satoshi Coach Introduced Me!

Welcome to the platform, Melissa! Always great to see people that already have established social media followings joining our community, very exciting to watch it grow.

You had a couple of items in your favorite things (nootripcs and epigenetics) that I am unfamiliar with, great to see new topics ready to add to the blockchain, as well as adding more creators in the health/fitness topics. What position did you play in soccer?

Hi there and thank you for the welcome! I have been experimenting with nootropics since 2011 and it's surely one of the topics I would love to share. I had some really great experiences and with others it gave me anxiety and... I got a wee-bit moody! :) Epigenetics is about changing our lifestyles and habits to alter our gene expressions. Just because we may have been 'born with it' does not mean it will express itself! I am diving in a bit deeper and exploring my raw data on 23 and Me to get into the nitty gritty of my own DNA to determine exactly how what I do and what I don't do effects my health. I was mostly sweeper and point back in the day in soccer but now that I'm much better conditioned than in high school (SO HAPPY I can say that! haha!) I'm typically a forward or mid-fielder! :)

Epigenetics sounds like an interesting facet of biology indeed. I went ahead and looked into nootropics and as a cognitive rehabilitation clinician, I would really be interested to hear more from someone who uses these and some personal data...my geriatric folks are constantly the target of the marketing for these supplements and I would like to be better informed in the event that a patient is interested in learning more.

Sounds like you played every position but mine, goalkeeper!

Haha! The first few years that I played I was goalkeeper! I was so out of shape and didn’t know how to play so my 8 year old self ‘got stuck’ in the goal. I learned a lot then and loved the position- definitely needs more respect than it’s normally given from my perspective!

Yes, I grew up as a fat kid and it seems to be common for the big kid to be in the position with the least running. I do have great reflexes and hand-eye coordination and continued to play goalie in other sports too but which came first, goal keeping or the skills? Suppose it's one of life's mysteries ;)
