Holy Shit
I missed your message. Sorry I'm late!
When I started here I was a bit rusty but this isn't my first rodeo. I keep this project completely separate from anything else I've done. I don't talk about my other life, here. If I do I'm basically writing a story loosely based on life, like this one where the actual truth is, I got a gig then got fucked over. But that alone doesn't make for entertaining content.
Something funny I once did though was kill myself. Not suicide though. Had an online persona, quite popular, several years ago, but I got sick of it and faked that character's death, turning my back on the whole thing and never visiting the site again. I was really young when I did that though. Good times!
Yeah content like this is more like something you'd use twitter to share with. Those web 2.0 platforms to me were always more like content distribution platforms, mainly full of consumers, not creators, even though yes there's big names there, but all they share is their opinion. What I'm doing is more like a magazine article. Not a social media post.
With jokes. Please go hard with jokes and don't hold back if you have that skill! LOL
This place needs more life. When I started here years ago, it was all 'philosophers' it seemed. People trying to be all sophisticated with their idea sharing. Really uptight. When I started I tried to 'fit in', was writing boring essays, no art. The day I said "Fuck this, I'll just be me and these people will have to get used to it," was the day I actually got noticed and eventually paid. Started here with NOTHING and knew NOBODY. Things sure have changed...
so i'm just commenting here instead of commenting on your old post, but i just read calling it quits, and this is the kind of silly humor with language that i enjoy. certainly there are (in my opnion) fine lines between cute/clever <-> tryhardiness, and then between tryhardiness <-> the funny kind of absurd/nonsensical, when it comes to doing stuff like that. i liked your post, i'm not going to say i'm an expert to judge it and tell you it was excellent, but for me, i was pleased when i realized what happened. (resounding praise right? ahhaa i'm just tired, i did really like it)
i did want to ask if you make the images. i feel like i recognize Quits from something lol.
and your avatar really does have a big influence on who i picture is writing your posts. that's all i'll say though. now it's time for sleep 😎
Yes I produce the artwork. All of it. From scratch, digitally. Self taught. This particular style can only be found here. But yes, every single image on my blog was produced by, me. All mine.
Here's one of my awesome tutorials: https://peakd.com/life/@nonameslefttouse/shading-an-ass-face
LOL. very nice tutorial.
i definitely didn't mean my question to imply i thought it would have been some slight against you btw. but i also certainly understand wanting to make sure it's clear that it is yours. i probably wouldn't have understood that before november 13th, but i know i definitely take pride in the sheer amount of images and videos that i have made from scratch, and though i do post other images also, it's a small percentage.
some of the content here reminds me of like stuff i remember seeing when i was a kid on somethingawful. which is a good thing in my opinion. (when i was a kid, not recently, the site became weird i think lol)
i kinda become a snob on memes because i never just take those templates and put text on them. and i spend like hours making mine, not knowing if it's even going to be that funny. i've wasted many hours before finding out i simply couldn't execute something in a way that would be funny enough.
LOL! How many conversations are we having?
I'm with you on being original and I know how hard trying to create 'funny' actually is. There's the lazy route. Political humor. Basically pick a team and tell them what they want to hear... blah. Not for me. Too generic.
And yes I edited the comment. I spelled blog wrong....
Don't ask me how I fucked that one up.
bob loblaw's law blog
i asked because 2 notifications seemed to go to the same URL and it was tripping me out. and yeah i think we're having 3 maybe? they don't feel all that disparate though, if anything it's nice to talk about different things. if we just had one comment thread, i bet we'd have simply stopped talking already!
and i would say, there IS political humor that works, but there's also political talk that isn't funny. i know what you're talking about but i don't think it legitimately fits the definition of comedy, regardless of if the messenger is labeled a comedian.
you ever watch The Life & Times of Tim? (total subject change here, i know)
Bob Loblaw. I love that name. It's too bad there's no names left to use, because I would have totally used that one.
And yes you're right, some of it works. Southpark as example. But Stephen Colbert these days as example, and that annoying prompted laughter... WTF? Are we living in 1975?
I haven't seen that, no. I'm a bit of a weirdo I think. If I'm here trying to get some work done, or elsewhere, it's only music. I tune out all the distractions in this world. No news, no politics, no movies, no games, no nothing. Just me, my brain, and some sound pumped directly into my ears. (two can play at this subject changing game)
seems like it might be the kind of show you would like.
i almost always have a TV on, and something else. it reminds me of my chaotic childhood and calms me down.
i also listen to drum and bass
did you edit this comment?
