I was talking with a client about this recently and I think the feeling to get back into reality is a counterpoint to our modernity. We have lost the skills that make us, us and we want to feel it again by becoming somewhat self-sufficient. Some want to live in luxury still but, some are starting to realise the luxury of life is in the living, not the consumption of products.
Lot of truth to what you said. I realized the pattern quite early that upon getting new "stuff", like toys or a phone, is always exciting at first, but eventually even the coolest thing becomes status quo. So, consumption is something to not look when trying to find fulfillment. It's only a never ending spiral if clung on to.
