Why you shouldn’t take yourself too seriously
It is very good that you are a focused and ambitious lady. Without these two qualities, you will barely get very far. More so, since we live in a patriarchal society, you would have to work extra hard to stand out and make your mark in any chosen field.
This notwithstanding, you can’t afford to take yourself too seriously. I mean this statement both literally and figuratively. Literally, taking yourself too seriously can lead to issues with anxiety because you may constantly feel like you are in a race against time and that you have a lot to achieve, which does not make for a fulfilling life. Other problems you may develop are Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), a mental condition in which you compulsively engage in trivial actions repeatedly.
In addition, taking yourself too seriously may make you break down physically because you are taking on more than you can actually handle. Stress can take a huge toll on you emotionally and affect your relationships as well. No one wants to be around a person who pushes herself too hard. Not to mention that being too focused on achievements may mean that you neglect your body and health.
Furthermore, taking yourself too seriously means that you don’t have time to actually enjoy life. You are working all the time, never taking a breather. So, beautiful moments of your life pass by without you even noticing.
Step outside your ambitions every now and then to relax, count your blessings and give yourself a treat. People who work around the clock, having no time for ‘mundane’ things may end up spending their lives without an ounce of gratitude.
Be driven but strive for balance; don’t take yourself too seriously.

Wow. What a powerful read. I know so many people who have fallen victim to their own anxiety, because they have obsessed over not messing up. And honestly I have to.
