Today is a very special day for all the muslims out there... And coming from a muslim family, i was tempted to write about the festival celebrated today...The muslims own today and tomorrow for celebrating their day...

Holidays are given to all citizens in country to mark this special day with muslims, students are the ones that benefit most here in my country..

Muslim schools give their students and teachers a week holiday to celebrate EID - AL-FITR, while schools owned by a christian give their students and teachers just two days holiday to celebrate with their friends and families and resume the third day...

I find it very amusing to be celebrating this day with the muslims because my father comes from a muslim family and it is always celebrated in the family house with my grandparents... that is to say, my father is a muslim and as his son, i joined him for the ramadan fasting and now today we are all celebrating EID-AL-FITR....

To my friends out there who doesn't seem to understand what eid- al- fitr means, dont worry i will take my time to explain to you how it is and how it is celebrated, because i want you to enjoy reading this with full understanding of what is celebrated today...

EID-AL-FITR has a particular salat (prayer) that consist of two RAKATS (bits generally performed in an open area or field..it is always performed by the congregations called JAMAAT and six traditional TAKBIRS which means raising of hands to the ears while saying "ALLAHU AKBAR"(meaning God is the greatest)...

Depending on different practice opinions, some people perform six takbirs while some perform twelve takbirs....

The six takbirs are performed like this, three at the start of the first rakat and three just before the ruku in the second rakat....
this salat is either obligatory, strongly recommended or preferable...

After the salat, muslims celebrate the eid-al-fitr in various ways with food and delicacies with the theme EID CUISINE also meaning sugar feast....

These are the few knowledge i have gained since i started travelling home with my father to celebrate the festival ever since i was a child and more with the little islamic knowledge gained in school...

Happy Eid to you. Enjoy the celebrations with your family and friends.

Enjoy the festivities!
I joined in the Ramadan twice before myself.
I had Turkish and Moroccan friends and out of
respect for them, I joined. However, in the end,
I was the only one that made it through the whole
month! It was quite interesting too because
the Turkish way was very different from the Moroccan one.
The Turks also usually ended a day later.
I actually enjoyed the whole month, and especially the
baklava afterwards hehe.
