In addition to the concept of sports EV Sports EV, Honda will bring an electric motorcycle to its native Tokyo Motor Show, which can move independently through the "self-balancing" Riding Assist-e system.
Note that this system was first demonstrated by the Honda brand within the CES 2017 exhibition (similar developments of self-balancing motorcycles were also demonstrated by such manufacturers as BMW and Lit Motors.). The technology of Riding Assist is based on the developments that the company's engineers used in the projects of the humanoid robot ASIMO and the self-balancing scooter UNI-CUB.
Interestingly, to maintain balance, not gyroscopes are used, weighting the structure, but precise sensors for determining the position in space and a control system that balances the bike due to small thrusts in the right direction.
Representatives of the company published photos of the future of the motorcycle, on the basis of which it can be concluded that the model will equip at least four modes of balancing. In any case, they will work only at low speeds, whereas when driving on roads the driver will rely only on his own capabilities.
To see an electric motorcycle Honda with system Riding Assist-e it will be possible already on October, 25th within the limits of the Tokyo autoshow.
