I don't generally watch mainstream news so don't always pick up on all the details of the situation unless I deliberately focus on it. What censorship has taken place other than them banning the live stream video of the event?

Now they're banning Jordan Peterson's '12 Rules for Life'. They've blocked the chans, liveleaks, and other free speech promoting sites. The attack was livestreamed on Fakebook, but there's been not a peep about blocking that, or Youtool, where many copies have been posted.
It's obvious they're not even concerned about the actual content they're claiming to be 'protecting' Kiwis from, but using this as an excuse to purge NZ internet of non-liberal content and oppress dissent at home. They've arrested several people for sharing banned speech and are prosecuting them with threats of 10 or more years in prison, including a 14 year old child.
Orwell wrote 1984 as a warning, not an instruction manual for NZ. Kiwis are going to die as a result of their firearms being seized (it is notable that the attack at the second mosque is reported to have been curtailed by a civilian with and empty firearm) and the censorship which will prevent them from understanding threats to their security.
As synchronicity would have it, I watched a recent interview with Peterson a few days ago where he was asked, essentially, how he saw the future going - given his success.. He replied that he figured it would all end pretty soon due to him saying something dumb.
