** It was barely 6am in the morning, and Israel had already sprung out from the bed. **
One thing was definitely not the same. Israel, being the holidays period, would still be sleeping and snoring his life out to the disturbance of the whole family in the house, that they might just pray he stays in school all through his life. This, coupled with the fact that we had managed to save harmattan from the unforgiving hands of oblivion, would make Israel so happy that he would literally have chosen to wake up at his preferred timing, which was Uhmm... Yes, 9am!!. When the chilly harmattan wind blowing at the dawn of the morning was now being warmed by the soft radiance emanating from the sun.
But, I was already doing some push ups in the early morning even before the creeping insects would have dare dreamt of waking up, struggling to hit the bench mark of twenty(20), I kept telling myself, you can do this. Get fit Israel!!!, the bankers would be intimidated on seeing you enter the premises with a smirk, which could wipe out all the joy they had enjoy during the Christmas break.
Today's morning workout wasn't for my body building, but it was rather channelled to the banker who had told me not to worry, that after 48 hours my money would be reversed to my account.
Before leaving the house, I had to confirm and make reconfirmations to know the difference in hours between the early hours of Friday the 22nd day of December and today being 27th December. It was certainly more than 48hours, I put up a grin on my face which should have informed anyone seeing me for the first time that I had a sinister plan to make the bankers know what it means to not have a rest of mind, checking up on my phone like one who was waiting for his fiancee to reply let's say the most romantic of messages she might have come across.
Israel my name resounded... "Where are you going to this early, you never miss your breakfast, what could be so important???"
All this rapid fire questions just reminded me of the 60 seconds of fame we had to pass through during the Petroquiz to make sure we create a lasting impact that will tell on the future generations. But how was I to think about food when I've been waiting patiently for so long for my money to come back home.
Ah!!, auntie!! I replied, don't worry about the food, this is me preparing for my new year resolutions. I will visit the food when my mission is accomplished.
Good morning sir, I finally greeted the man at the customer care unit after standing in front of his desk for over 15 minutes.
Staring at him with a grimace, I guess he could quickly recall the face. Oh, it's you again, have you seen the woman in charge of such cases???
Not yet boss, I replied, I guess she isn't on her seat yet.
So he told me to meet the man whom I saw last week working with the woman I had prepared for, that he would attend to me. She's a lucky girl I said to myself, she would have felt the heat surely.
Finally, a documentation process was required. I just kept wondering why they didn't get my bank details since the first day I reported the issue.
OK young man, yours was a transfer right?? Then you'll need to write a letter to the branch manager.
It hit me so hard, I couldn't believe how it, you mean write a letter I mumbled, yes sir, you'll need to write one. Jeez, finally I would be disgraced here just because of my own money. I stood with the plain sheet in my hand, staring at the paper as if it would just write the complaint already, that trick didn't work.
So I had to send my brain back on a trip to memory boulevard to recall how to cook up a good formal letter.
Man! You wouldn't believe it, some minutes later, I was smiling, I've completed it, I bet the branch manager would even use mine as a reference for others. You wouldn't believe when I wrote my name instead of the "yours faithfully, then the signature and finally the name which ends it." On realizing the mistake I made sure to blot it out, creating a little design on the sheet in the process.
The letter writing has been achieved, how good could things be?? Just as I stretched forth my hand to submit the letter, the woman had appeared on her seat in the nick of time to get it.
Staring at the paper in her hand, she looked at me and said, "how won't you know that your DYA has a limit of #50000? You should have checked before trying to transfer such amount, but this is the Look before you leap step I had regarded as a cliche coming back to tell me, always lookout." Egbami, I whispered to myself in the Yoruba lingua, I didn't know MA.
Don't worry young man, yours is a different case, I won't be logging it into the computer, your money should be reversed to you today, if not, come back to the bank tomorrow she said as she dropped my letter in a stack.
With all the workouts I did, strength was to be found nowhere as I tried putting up a smile on my face as I headed for the exit.
One thought kept running through my mind, tomorrow I wouldn't be the one sorrowing.

It goes without saying that most mistakes happen because we are in a hurry, and don't take the time to slow down, and be cautious before acting. At least that is what happens in my life.
