At this point in Pitcairn, Bitcoin was probably used as the currency to pay on PayPal. After the imposition of the currency of the Bitcoin , and some of the encrypted currencies, the same in many markets. Perhaps, and even a strong possibility that this currency will enter the payment operations on the company Paypal, according to statements by the financial director of the company.
The possibility of using Bitcoin as the payment currency on Paypal
John Rainey, chief financial officer of Paypal, disclosed that Bitcoin could be used as a future payment currency in an interview with the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) published on Monday (February 19th).
In a section of the interview titled "Encryption Factor", Rainey said that Paypal was one of the pioneers to accept Bitcoin on its Braintree platform in 2015. However, Rainey adds:
"Given the current volatility of the Bitcoin prices, it can not be considered a reliable currency for transactions. If you are a trader and you have a margin of 10% and you accept the deal with Bitcoin, the Bitcoin value can drop by 15% the next day and you find yourself in trouble because of that deal. "
Responding to the question of whether encrypted currencies would be approved as a means of payment, Rainey told WSJ that there was "a very high probability" that this would be achieved:
"Technology has a real virtue. But even so, I think we will wait years before we see dominance and acceptance that makes it a form of currency used every day. "
Max Levchin, co-founder of Paypal, said in December of this year that, in parallel with his belief in the evolution of the Blockchain technology, he had "not shown" his view of the future of the Bitcoin so far.
As an additional information, it is worth mentioning that Coinbase, a portfolio and exchange platform for the encrypted currency, included former CEO of PayPal, David Marcus, Paypal, to its board last December.
Wow! Finally? That's great. Big up to PayPal for innovation. We shall do business with you :)
