Hate "Speech" is just the latest term used to get attention.
Remember that there are plenty of hate "crimes" on the books too.
Because killing someone because of the color of their skin or their sexual preference is worse than just randomly killing someone.
That should be obvious.
People have become de-sensitized to the level of inhumanity in our society so you have to increase the impact by modifying it with "hate".
I'm on the fence as to whether or not I should have labeled that as sarcasm up front.
