Prehistoric Cliff Dwelling

in #photofeed6 years ago

Perched high on the edge of a cliff and under the shelter of a generous rock overhang. These stone walls were once the home to the indigenous people of the Sinagua Indian Culture. It's believed these people are of pre-columbian origin and that they occupied this region from 500 AD to 1400 AD.

This passive solar cliff dwelling contained about 8 to 10 rooms and was home to about five families. Like camouflage, the walls blend well with the cliff they sit on and they had a commanding view of the valley below.

This is what I call living on the edge!
This photo was captured near Sedona in northern Arizona USA.

"Living on the edge" - I like it. Imagine walking up to that view each day. That would be incredible. Great photos as always.

I wonder what their comprehension of beautiful scenery was. Did the view have meaning in that respect? Is this awareness innate or the product of evolution?

Awesome shots! That sure was a fun and memorable adventure going up there with you and Robin, and the times afterwards that me and Robin and James were unable to find that area again, I hope to find that spot one day! It's one of my goals. And whether I find it or not, it sure is a fun adventure trying. :) Thanks for taking us up there way back then! It's been quite full of great memories.

You have pretty much summed it up perfectly, that was a special time! Thanks a lot!

Blessings for you and your family.Hi @irvinesimages the life was very difficult then, we should be grateful to have so many comforts, everything is so simple now, imagine that those people had to carry the water, so many difficulties and happy, now we have everything and there is so much envy, hatred, resentment etc, this is sad , we lack more respect and discipline.

Hi Martha, I agree with you but also they had a different set of problems, challenges and risks. Life was about survival in it's most basic form. Today we are more involved in folly and delusion! Happy weekend!
