RE: myday #15 - Beautiful Waterfall in the Rainforest

Sure: The Takayna or Tarkine is a 450 000 hectare ecosystem in the north west of Tasmainia.

Every year for the past, I think it's three years now, the Bob Brown Foundation has arranged for creatives in all fields: Artists, photographers, film makers, writers and musicians to camp out, in the Tarkine for about 4 days.

Artists chose their areas ie ocean or rainforest etc. The area covers a huge diversity of terrain. Base camps are established in the different areas and run by volunteers.

Creatives later submit their work, which is collated and published as a book as well as being curated as an exhibition that tours Australia ~ To highlight the need for protection of this threatened wilderness.

I wasn't able to go this year, but supported the crowdfunding that's needed each year for the base camp materials and food etc. So now have the book: Tarkine Trails. In preparation for being part of next year's project.

Wow @allyinspirit! What a wonderful intative for creatives. I think preserving these forests and last frontiers is what the world needs to do. I wish you all the support in making a difference when you go!

Thanks so much Leigh. I produced a sculpture for the Bondi Sculpture by the Sea environmental exhibition several years ago. And would love to create something of a similar nature but as a visual, rather than the physical structure. Which is one of the reasons why I'm working with the crystal obelisque in some of my photography at the moment.

A win-win. A once in a lifetime opportunity for artists and the 'creatives' drawn to this project will be highlighting the beauty of this area so that others will see that the area MUST be preserved.

Thanks will certainly check it out to learn more and stay in touch.
