Steemit isn't my thing I suppose..

Hello Steemit,
My name is Karin and I've been a member for 10 days or so. I've made a couple of posts and after my first few days, I just thought that I'd give up. My boyfriend @hitmeasap, told me to stay.. So I did.

But, I keep asking myself.. Is it really worth it?

If any of you read my introduction post, I love photography. It's my true passion in life and I love to share my photos with everyone. I love the feedback & I like to spread beautiful things around me.

That's why I'm here on Steemit.

I understand that it takes time to get recognition on steemit. It takes time & luck to become an established steemian. My boyfriend have had some success but he's still struggling a lot too.. but this isn't about money or fame. This is about comments and feedback.

I've never made money on instagram or facebook where I've been sharing my photos for years now.. But I've got a bunch of likes and replies on the photos I've shared, and that's why I've continued to do it. I just thought that I should give steemit a try as it's a new place. A new place with new faces.

It seems like the photography section isn't "going to well" here on steemit. Perhaps it's due to this being a new site. Perhaps it is because people aren't that interested in photos.. Mine or others.

It's a shame though, as I've come to like steemit. I like the simplicity of it..

The question still remains though..

  • For how long should I keep up posting stuff, without any feedback at all?

Perhaps I should come back in a few months instead.. When Steemit has grown & more people have joined..

/K

To be really honest with you @cherry

I love the photos that some people share on Steemit sometimes, but one point you're right is, the photography department gathers too little interest at the moment.

As Steemit is still generally new, most of us here are probably more interested in cryptocurrency itself, than the actual contents posted here. Thus from what you can see, other than introducing yourself at first, most posts that are earning the bucks at the moment are about Steem itself.

I hope you don't give up, and treat this place like a personal space of your own. Who knows, one of your photos will bring in the community that we need in Steemit one fine day? Good luck! (and is that last photo a Canary?)

Thank you for your response. No, it is a Swedish bird named "Talgoxe" in Swedish :)

we are all learning. like some of your angles in your different photos?
be patient.
keep fighting.

Thanks :)

you're welcome

Hi @cherry
When I first joined, I was coming from Reddit and to me Steemit was very similar but with the addition of getting paid for upvotes. My Reddit mentality was always, "I will post what I want, when I want, and if people like it, so be it." I did not use Reddit for validation.

Perhaps this is the mistake you are making here on Steemit? The platform is still really new and has a fast growing user-base. Plus it is still in beta with lots of additional features to come. Using the platform right now to seek validation from others of your efforts might not be the best course of action. My recommendation would be to use it for yourself, as a sort of "public diary" and if other people start enjoying it, then great! If not, don't worry about it, just keep using it for your own benefit.

Thank you for your comment.

dont give up - a lot of it is pure luck and a whale... your bird photo is amazing, got great detail.

I'll continue and fight. I believe in Steemit. But just my posts seem to not go home with anyone. Is disappointed. Thanks! It's a great picture I have succeeded :)

Love the photo of the bird. I will be following! Don't get discouraged!!
