This artificial hill was created from sand and soil that was dredged out of the reservoir that is part of the park. Over time this hill has slowly eroded exposing the massive root systems of these old oak trees.
The roots really gave this place a kind of weird and creepy vibe for some reason but they sure do look interesting with plenty of texture to play with.

OMG the third one it's breathtaking. What's a atmosphere. Would be also great to see in sepia:))) I love the mood of that particular photo. GREAT WORK. Up&Resteem
Many thanks @margaretwise! There definitely a vibe there very different from the rest of the park
WOW those root formations are creepy yes but so cool as well, I could see the third photo on the cover of a thriller or mystery novel
Thanks @tattoodjay! Gonna have to go revisit this park again when I have more time for more pics!
Look forward to see them
I would not try to run through their,They might trip you and hold on!
Lol, wouldn't surprise me!
Yea those are some pretty awesome shots!
Appreciate it @bayareabutcher!
OHH beautiful...!! pictures ^ ^
Always appreciated my friend, keep up the amazing art @yusaymon!
Good ol' sand doesn't stay around for anything, even when a tree has called it home. Shifting goes with sands like peas and carrots. Seems that sand has with it an inherent impermanence that dirt doesn't get. Those roots are like lost dreams the oaks had for a higher tide line. Time and tide wait for no man. I really enjoyed your captures @liberty-minded. Good eye.
Appreciate it @bloomview!

Very poetic captures. Plants in general and oaks in a stately manner show how they have to choose wisely where to lay roots as they only have that one shot. They rely on those roots for decisions about what to do above ground much more than i used to know about . That aspect lends much depth to the statement made to me by those "soilless roots" images you captured. Really fine.
it looks like a haunted forest ! Very cool! Upped !👍👍👍
It sure did, I will definitely be back for some photos there!
Very cool! :) The lighting adds to the presence of the trees too.
absolutely, thanks for stopping by @throughmyeyes!
It looks as if those trees didn't make it in the last photo. Interesting images! Was that a case of erosion baring the roots? Could take some pretty awesome portraits with people wrapped up in the roots, there!
Yes, erosion caused the exposed roots over time. I will definitely be back there again for different projects!
Too bad we don't have something like that here! It would be amazing to backlight with glowsticks and get that erie green glow coming out from beneath the trees. Especially with fog or mist.
you're full of exceptional ideas my friend!
the trees on the last pic look so creepy haha ;-)
Lol, I know. While I wad there I thought this would be great location for scene in a horror film or something
