Walking down the forest track in Tasmania I was on a mission to capture the beauty of Russell Falls. I knew the waterfall was there from the numerous images on the internet, but I had yet to see it for myself.
A few minutes later and I had stumbled upon it, in all its glory. The sound of rushing water, pure in ever sense trickled and tumbled before me. Mist thick as fog foamed from the base and rolled into the air. The coolness on my brow made me hurry to set up the camera on my panoramic tripod head before I got too wet.
The end result of looking through the lens was a beautiful panoramic, edited to see what I saw and experienced. This waterfall was truly magnificent! It was @myday and I will not forget the experience of being in nature in all its beauty!

Wow! That's a sweet picture. You say that you got this effect by stitching together several pictures? I'd love to see a tutorial of how to do that if you'd like to post one.
@michellerhey I will have to do a panoramic tutorial in the future!
Please do Leigh. 🙏
Gorgeous photo, how long was the exposure time for this shot?
@silverbug around 3 seconds.
Did you use filters? It's an amazing photo. Cheers
Hi @silverbug. I didn't use filters for this shot. Just some simple editing techniques in Photoshop when stitching the photo together.

No doubt, excellent shot @myday. Would you share exposure data on it? Upvoted, resteemed & DPS.
Hi @photo-trail thanks for upvoting, resteeming and DPS. This image was a result of multiple images stitched together when I used my Manfrotto 303 SPH Panoramic Tripod Head. There is too much data to list as the were around 8 photos making this composite, it had also had some heavy editing in Photoshop to get it looking like this. It has been one of my all time best selling stock photos.
No, @myday, I just think of shutter speed and f-stop, because they had to be the same for all stitched photos. Since the water is a white streak, that shutter speed must have been long. I would like to know how long.
Ah, I think from memory it was around 5 seconds but I will have to check the EXIF data when I'm home. I did do some post processing on the water to make it brighter. I'll get back to you in the next 24 hours on that when I'm in front of my computer.
Just saw this courtesy of the @photo-trail resteem. Awesome photo. Gots yourself a new follower.
Thanks @photo-trail for sharing :) and thank you for following @customnature!
Leigh, this photograph truly captures the wild beauty that can still be found in Tasmania. The density of ferns: Magnificent. And that golden misty glow: The closest word I can come up with is Divine.
Just wondering: Have you heard about Bob Brown's Tarkine Project? 🙏
Hey @allyinspirit! I'm glad you like it! I have heard of Bob Brown but not sure about his project. Can you provide some insight?
Sure: The Takayna or Tarkine is a 450 000 hectare ecosystem in the north west of Tasmainia.
Every year for the past, I think it's three years now, the Bob Brown Foundation has arranged for creatives in all fields: Artists, photographers, film makers, writers and musicians to camp out, in the Tarkine for about 4 days.
Artists chose their areas ie ocean or rainforest etc. The area covers a huge diversity of terrain. Base camps are established in the different areas and run by volunteers.
Creatives later submit their work, which is collated and published as a book as well as being curated as an exhibition that tours Australia ~ To highlight the need for protection of this threatened wilderness.
I wasn't able to go this year, but supported the crowdfunding that's needed each year for the base camp materials and food etc. So now have the book: Tarkine Trails. In preparation for being part of next year's project.
This video was part of the crowdfunding promotion:
Wow @allyinspirit! What a wonderful intative for creatives. I think preserving these forests and last frontiers is what the world needs to do. I wish you all the support in making a difference when you go!
Thanks so much Leigh. I produced a sculpture for the Bondi Sculpture by the Sea environmental exhibition several years ago. And would love to create something of a similar nature but as a visual, rather than the physical structure. Which is one of the reasons why I'm working with the crystal obelisque in some of my photography at the moment.
A win-win. A once in a lifetime opportunity for artists and the 'creatives' drawn to this project will be highlighting the beauty of this area so that others will see that the area MUST be preserved.

awesome photo, upvoted and followed, can't wait to see more of your work
Thank you very much @biuiam
I love that you captured the fluidity of the waterfall perfectly. An absolutely gorgeous photograph. I recently visited a waterfall in Wales, England and found the experience a lot more emotional than I thought. I can't wait to go back. Xxx
Thanks @yummymummy, there is something quite pure about waterfalls they do offer a place to meditate and reflect on life.
Beautiful and alluring.Wish i can go there too.
Thanks for your comment @hammadakhtar :)
