RE: Where Eagles Fly : Taos to Winslow ~ Part 1 ~ Preflight Planning and Beginning the Journey

Stunning images as always, loved reading more about your flight planning process, it's incredible how much goes into each of these flights, I have huge respect for the amount of work you have done to be able to do it AND the amount you have to put into each flight! Still, what a reward once all the planning is done!

Thanks so much.... as you know from your work a great deal of work goes into preparing for a shoot, whether on land, water or air... I have a friend that specializes in spelunking photography... lugging gear, lights and cameras etc. deep underground in caves to shoot! I learned a long time ago as I am certain you know, lack or preparation will doom a shoot.

Absolutely, even for my drone work I get frustrated with the planning, what you do is another level completely! Ah man, I've seen some cave footage that's scared the pants off me before, I'll just stay at sea level I think!!

yep!! I recently went to a presentation about the cave explorations up on top of the mountains in the Bob Marshall Wilderness... they were entering a very tiny hole in the ground up on top of a mountain ridge that opened into a large complex of caverns underneath the mountain.... it was really amazing to think of how someone found this to begin with!!

Absolutely! I saw one here in the UK a while back where they were crawling through some caves and had to crawl under a huge sheet of rock that was so unstable they couldn't touch it. They were following what felt like fresh air but if they didn't find a way out they wouldn't have been able to turn around! My heart was racing just watching it!!
