Gates over Bridges

Gates over Bridges

Looking across the arches to where is free
Trapped on the wrong side of the shore
Invisible gates locked from the other side
Stopping so many in need of more

Sparing no expense the walls arose
At the time no one questioned construction
To feel safe we sold our souls
And live forever on with instruction

Wild horses where spirit once held
Now all that remains is the shadows
The field that we ran are empty and bare
The hope in the soil now lays fallow

To return once again to the lands of life
Continuing on under no man's rule
Caring and sharing without regard
For who has claimed what is in the pool

Last part remindes me of the steemverse, or maybe that's what the whole poem is about

Is what it is about important or, is what it brings to mind more important?

I think its the deep philosophical meaning that matters more. What it's about really is of little consequence

Always, when we look at what was built, we imagine what was before, see the traces of what was and is no longer, @tarazkp. It is a beautiful image to start the day. Happy Wednesday.

Everything changes, like it or not.

To feel safe we sold our souls

How often have we done this individually and in society as a whole? I often think of the compromises I've made and the justifications I used to make those compromises and sometimes I feel like I've sold part of my soul for a wooden nickel!

It is one compromise after another. Babysteps can lead to greatness or, disaster

Lol. Quite a bit of the poem rings true on here. Where was the photograph taken?

=)

The photo is from Paris.
