China has had a mass stabbing at a school, and the U.K. has had many mass stabbings. If this isn't true, please point me to articles or studies that show otherwise.
The two safest states in U.S., also, have least amount gun laws. To be fair, the most objective gun studies, in general, show that restricting or promoting gun ownership doesn't have an affect on violence in America. Turns out a very high rate of chronic violence occurs in same dense urban areas that have poor socioeconomic conditions.
Even though the U.S. has a high death rate of suicide by guns, many other industrialized European and Asian countries have a much higher rate of suicide despite having no to little access to firearms.
If you take an objective view of America's violence, restricting firearms isn't the panacea that is going to drive down violence. If we really want to reduce the rate murder, crime, and suicides, the effort should be concentrated on improving socioeconomic conditions and suicide prevention.
I appreciate your point. I don't own guns. In Canada, i cant afford the trial to prove I did everything to alter the outcome.
However, i understand the importance of having the ability to defend yourself against criminals. What would you do if you unlocked your door and were pushed into your home by someone who wants what you have??
What happened in my case was that I was able to grab a bad ass knife that ths guy could not have known was there. When he had the blade at his throat, i saw his fist twitching as he calculated his odds. The guy turned away and ran.
Take an honest look for yourself, what would you do? Would you prefer be able to fight back, or just hope that all they want is stuff..
