I heard of it, however I did not believe it - now I do - sad but true
I know most people "working" or being active in crypto, web3 or blockchain are often the younger ones and I especially enjoyed to be part of this community, interact with young ones that made me feel great, learned a lot about other generations way of thinking.
I love(d) the entire blockchain movement, the approach to make this world a better place with decentralisation, by empowering communities and content creators with rewards, helping users from countries with financial issues to save jobs and income, getting rid of centralized structures where web2 players own and control data of their users.
After my decision to quit my job and to enter blockchain as the place of my future also professionally I met a lot awesome people, a great community of people that wanna build something. This is the positive side!
On the negative side I am learning a lot the hard way now. Having experienced a lot great things in my traditional tech sales and marketing life where young and old work together to ensure that innovative solutions, new thinking and disruptive ideas are connected with wisdom and experience to make innovation also a "product" that is adopted by masses I am now coming to the point where I have to admit: Blockchain or web3 or NFT seems different!
Even most of these job adverts required over 10 years of experience in "xyz", track record of successful selling in "xyz" - the truth is: No one will even talk to you if you do not fit into a certain age matrix. Wisdom, experience from the old technology world does not count, track record of over 6 years building, driving and supporting things in blockchain as old fart does not count. The criteria for hiring managers seems to be simple: Hire the young ones for any crypto job, no matter if they might own the skills to make these disruptive ideas successful. And immediately throw applications of people around 50 into the trash.
I am now nearly 40 and even I feel old when it comes to blockchain technology programming and stuff. Thats even though I studied IT 20 years ago.
On the other hamd many of rhese youmg folks sooner or later find out, that they are mussing a few things older ones could teach them.
10 years ago I thought as well I know everything better then the person in front of me. Today I am listening more, but still not as much as I should.
If you ever are interested in doing a blockchain project. I have lots of ideas, but no idea how to get a start to realize them.
E.g. i would love to do a game around the job of a works council to make this special job more understandable to "normal people".
If you ever make a crypto game please make it fun. All these crypto games are so poor in fun factor.

It should be more than buying cards and click.
I don't know if its just a age issue. I feel much (or have felt rather) like talking to flat-earthers, when it comes to NFTs, Cryptos and such.
But honestly, I don't give a f**k anymore. Everybody can do with his money what he wants, its not my concern. Time will tell who is smarter.
who are these flat earthers :-)?
hmmm it's interesting to see the perspective from older generations. I generally meet older people on Hive than other chains where they are mostly my age but I can't relate to them 😂 I wanted to try these jobs because I've got the experience but for some reason, I hate how the system works. Web3 should be about proof of work instead age/gender/even nationalities. It sucks when you experienced that.
I think people under 20th think that these age will last forever. The truth is exactly the opposite, I'm currently in my forties and I feel like I'm in the best moment in my life. A great mix of experience and strenght, with less chances of acting as an Idiot. Decentralized power means no ones determines the future of others.Keep going through!

I've not looked at crypto jobs, but I'm still working as a developer in other fields in my 50s. Experience does count, but I guess nobody has decades of crypto experience and they may want people who will work long hours for little money initially. We can still be involved in crypto. It can be frustrating if you want a paid job though.

Thanks mate - no the salary is / would be really really good - not a matter of that, just got 2 opps for high level stuff, got feedback to be perfect fit regarding the required skills and experience - but both had one other guy, bit weaker but 10 / 15 years younger, got the job - I am now really in a shit mood to be honest given I might have been to naive (tech normal is not better in terms of the age issue it seems).

Hmmm. Wouldn't have imagined this. Wasn't blockchain supposed to "reward" proof of work? Weren't people working in such an industry supposed to be appreciated and remunerated based on these decentralized blockchain technology?

I'm not surprised. The marketing teams that reach out to Hive are all very similar, to a point where I can't tell them apart and forget who is from what team. I can tell you I've only met one person over a certain age. That's in about two years of being the contact for them. But the guys active in other chains that are based on venture capital are somewhat different and here is where you can find the older crowd.
At least there's a chance for such folks.
