Most people walk with their eyes looking forward, at the ground, or fixated on their cell phones.
Not me...
Mine are always darting around the curbs to see what's either in the clear recycling bag/box mounds that have no end, or in the queue on the side of apartment buildings.
Let's take tonight for example. After grabbing a few things from the grocery store in the rain, umbrella in hand, I walked on a street that had some curb recycling out early... just in case I spotted something on the way home.
I look for wires or recognizable shapes, an interesting skill I've developed over the years with almost ESP-level accuracy.
As I approached this scene below, I knew exactly what I'd found, and that it was solid money.
Can you tell what it is?
Look closer...
Think you got it?
This is what they were...
An 2017 UPPAbaby Vista Stroller Rumbleseat and a 2017 Standard Vista Seat, both with extra tray bars. Prime stuff.
Cha-ching.
These are very easy to sell. I'll debate whether it's best to sell them for cash on Craigslist or online. The Rumbleseat won't last long either way. If I listed it right now for $100, it'd probably sell by the morning, but I'll shoot for $125 and wait a week for interest/demand to give in.
I could've gone home a quicker way in the rain to eat dinner because I was hungry. I chose to do what I usually do, try to maximize my return on my walks around my neighborhood, even in the rain and holding an umbrella with groceries.
Needless to say, dinner will be "free" tonight after these move.
The next phase is to go back out after my workout, in the rain, and find more. Perhaps some things will be wet/ruined, but some won't.
If don't save this stuff, pretty much nobody else around here will...
Thanks,
@steemmatt
man you have got eagle eyes for that type of stuff! :O
That's a pretty sweet find. Do you ever worry that child restraints have been thrown away because they have been involved in an accident?

These are for strollers, not car seats. Good point though if they were car seats. If I find a car seat, I usually take the seat covers and some loose parts off of it after learning about that point you made.
It's still handy to be able to at least salvage some elements of car seats. Anything that doesn't go into landfill is a win.
Nice grab man! I had no idea from the pic. Why would someone throw those away and not donate them or try to sell themselves?

That is the million dollar question that makes me confused, angry and motivated at the same time.
cha-ching, cha-ching. Good find!
Awesome finds! Just loke any treasure hunt you must pay attention to the details. So awesome you found a great score!! Thanks for sharing!

Thanks. Hopefully it's the start to a good haul tonight (heading out now). This was a quick example to motivate people that it doesn't have to be a big ordeal... just keep those eyes peeled and things start popping up you wouldn't have noticed before.
Sharp eyes! Are they baby thingies for cars?
They're for this high-end stroller:
@steemmatt, could you please share the sites you use to sell?? thanks
Mostly eBay and Craigslist. I use Etsy at times. I've considered using Facebook, but not yet. I've also tried some local mobile apps, but don't really need to stray from my core options.
