The mystery what caused the wow signal if finally solved. The only message that until now we thought could have been sent by an alien civilization.
"A team of researchers with the Center of Planetary Science (CPS) has finally solved the mystery of the "Wow!" signal from 1977. It was a comet, they report, one that that was unknown at the time of the signal discovery. Lead researcher Antonio Paris describes their theory and how the team proved it in a paper published in the Journal of the Washington Academy of Sciences."

On August 15, 1977, the Ohio "Big Ear" radio telescope received a signal of unknown origin from the constellation of Sagittarius stars. It lasted 72 seconds and it was thirty times higher than the background noise, so the telescope manager wrote 'WOW!' On the paper it was printed on. It was the signal of unknown origin more intense than we had detected. Forty years of mystery have passed. The "WOW!" signal had everything that was necessary to became the first message of aliens, but in 2006 the alien hypothesis began to wobble until last week it was totally discarded.
In 2006 was discovered a comet with a huge cloud of hydrogen around it and that in 1977 had been precisely the point of the segment where the signal had come and what scientists have been done until last week was to track the comet proving that they obtained replica of the signal "WOW!" by pointing the telescope at the comet. This is logical, since the hydrogen naturally emits radio frequencies of 1.42 gigahertz, the same frequency as that of the signal.
So, since last week, one of the hopes that we were not alone in the universe faded.
That is science. Signals are observed, and confirmations are needed. Sometimes they come, sometimes they don't :)
That's correct.
