(yawn) Being taxed per mile is old news for truckers. IFTA (International Fuel Tax Association) has been stealing from us for decades. Oregon charges per mile while in the state. So much so that a LOT of truck traffic detours through Washington State to avoid the road tax in Oregon.
Thieves are gonna steal. It's their nature.
I'm retired, for MUCH of my life I was car poor I live in Texas. RURAL texas. Going to the store for groceries and back was a fifty mile trip. A vehicle (or several) was a necessity. Since I moved to town I've seen what passes for public transportation. The horror..the horror. Spend half a day waiting for the bus to show up.
Auto-taxis sounds like the cat's meow to me.
IF, they are cheap enough. Cheaper than automobile ownership...AND as convenient as automobile ownership...and no more dangerous than driving a car...sounds like a winnah!
